johnny appleseed

I recently saw a mention on tv of a character called Johnny Appleseed, I remember reading years ago of this man who wondered across America with a bag on his back containing Apple seedlings which he planted on his journey. Can anyone else remember this?

Johnny Appleseed was a boozer who was also an entrepreneur. The apple trees he planted did not produce apples for eating, but for booze:

MY FIRST introduction to Johny Appleseed's exploits was with that Disney cartoon from the late 1940s/early 1950s, replayed countless times on the Disneyland TV shows of the '60s and '70s...

AND wasn't he a strapping and fine looking young buck as he innocently strode boldly across the wild frontiers, casting his apple seeds hither and fither as he ventured forth.. geek
