4 in 5 new Nurses in the NHS are Foreign screams the Daily Mail
From The Royal College of Nursing October 2012
For the first time in decades there is clear evidence that the overall number of nurses employed in the NHS across the four UK countries has declined
.
UK governments and policy makers determine how many nurses are being trained in the UK through allocation of funding. There continue to be more applicants for nurse education in the UK than there are funded training places. The numbers of nursing students entering UK pre-registration education in the UK and subsequently entering the UK register is not a random or uncontrolled event, or a reflection of lack of potential recruits, it is the direct result of funding decisions and subsequent career choice by individuals

That rag should be screaming blue murder that it's because of funding instead of trying to build up resentment against foreign Nurses who have come here. We should be thankful that they have.

Hi Irn
It is worse than that, it is again the Dail Der Sturner clearly telling porkies:
New evidence of the crisis in nurse numbers
Published: 15 May 2014
A new report published today by Health Education England shows that NHS employers are struggling to recruit nurses and that around ten per cent of nursing posts in the health service are being left vacant.
The figures in the report indicate that the vast majority of health service organisations in England are experiencing shortages in the supply of qualified nurses, at a time when there is increasing awareness of the crucial link between nurse staffing levels and patient care.
Urgent action must be taken
Commenting on the report, Dr Peter Carter, Chief Executive & General Secretary of the RCN, said: “This is further evidence of the crisis in nurse numbers facing the NHS.
"RCN research in November found a vacancy rate in nursing posts of six per cent, while these figures from the start of 2014 appear to show a ten per cent vacancy rate. More than half of respondents are considering recruiting nurses from abroad because there are not enough in the UK. This is a clear sign of failure in the NHS’ approach to workforce planning.
“It is certainly positive that NHS organisations are now acknowledging the need for more nurses, but urgent action must be taken to address the current shortfalls in the nursing workforce."
Return to practice is part of the solution
Health Education England has highlighted its work on encouraging nurses to return to practice, which is being supported by the RCN.
Dr Carter said: "One part of the solution to the nursing shortage should be to encourage registered nurses who no longer work in the NHS to return to practice. Bringing their skills and experience back to the health service can be a relatively quick and cost-effective means of plugging the gaps in staffing and the RCN supports Health Education England’s work in this area.
“Such nurses are an invaluable resource for the NHS, but attracting them back into work will require the provision of dedicated support from employers. There needs to be sufficient funding for return to practice programmes and suitable supervision and mentoring processes in place.

Why don't you read the article properly, instead of putting YOUR own political stance on it to make it something it obviously isn't.

The article has been read it is poor to say the least making unsubstanciated claims on Nurses returning to work after having children, ignoring the fact the problem is around cost on training and making a view on immigrants again.
Did I miss anything?
As seen there is an ongoing shortage.

No-one had mentioned any political stance on this until you came on board.
