Paul Lambert Leaves BBC To Become Ukip's Head Of Communications

Ukip and other right-wingers have always been quick to criticise the BBC for having a left-wing bias.

But after the eurosceptic party's latest appointment, we're not so sure.

The party has announced it is appointing veteran BBC political producer Paul "Gobby" Lambert to be its director of communications.

Mr Lambert is well known in Westminster for chasing down under-fire politicians and putting them on the spot, including shouting "will you resign?" at more than one.

Nigel Farage, who previously accused the corporation of making a bid to "halt Ukip's advance" with an edition of Panorama, praised Mr Lambert.

He said: "I am delighted to welcome Paul to our team. Knowing him, and how effective he has always been in getting his message across he will fit Ukip like a glove.

"Drive, passion, hard work, honesty and immense good humour are the hallmarks of Paul. It'll be fun working with him."

Mr Lambert said: "Over the past few years I have been following the work of Ukip and Nigel Farage and I feel that he is changing British politics for the better.

I hate to see journalists join political operations -- I think they call into question their prior career and that they can never go back to it.

They should never even consider it -- Ron Fournier was already catching flack for the AP's rightward bias in his role as the AP's Washington Bureau chief, then he let it be known he was considering working for McCain's 2008 campaign.

ANOTHER amoral, ethics free and apolitical hack leaves his profession behind to chase the money down into the poolitical morass...

POLITICAL circles over here are full of lawyers and journo's with short careers in their chosen 'profession', teachers who have never actually taught a class since graduation, farmers who never did any farming, uni' graduates who never actually toiledin their fields of study, before becoming yet another grey-tinted apparatchik ~ another cog in the machine..

SO NONE of these carry-ons in British politics ever surprise me ~ it's just more of what us common ol' colonials have come to expect over the past couple of hundred years ! Sleep

It's an art form over here and the most high profile case was Andy Coulson who left the News of the World to move into the very heart of government - 10 Downing Street.

He was a lad who started at the bottom and made good and thought he had joined the ranks of the untouchables only to find to his cost that he hadn't.

The untouchables walked free leaving Coulson and a few others to carry the can for the phone hacking scandal.

I'm afraid the chipping Norton set was a tad too far for him - he just didn't know it at the time. He does now.

The BBC has been accused of yielding to political pressure since the last election and allowing a right-wing bias to emerge in its journalism.

The serious criticism by a distinguished media professor suggests that the BBC has compromised its impartiality by depending too heavily on sources from business, the media, law and order and politics.
