So ... British actors play the most recent incarnations of Spider-man, Superman, Batman (at least for now) and, um ... Abraham Lincoln.

So let's go ahead and cast Shia LeBeouf as the next Bond ...

(Seriously though, that would be a tragedy.)

I've read that the reason American leading men are dying out is American machismo (steering macho boys away from the arts and into sport):

http://www.vulture.com/2011/02/why_cant_americans_get_cast_as.html

But really, Lincoln? He was in his 50s when the Civil War broke out. Jeez, we could have at least cast the Greatest Actor of All Time -- Bryan Cranston:

“I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant! Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen — ever.”

- Sir Anthony Hopkins, on Cranston's performance as Walter White in "Breaking Bad."

In the meantime, sure, fine -- bring on David Tennant as the lead in the inevitable reboot of the Indiana Jones movies ...

Haha, to be honest it is refreshing. For years it seemed British actors were the go to guys for Hollywood when casting villains- emphatically so in Disney movies where everyone from Shere Khan and Scar to Jafar had a stereotypical English accent Wink

Righto, chap Smile Yes, for the longest time villians in U.S. action movies had a British accent. But I suspect it was because the Russians and Saudis would have gotten too upset ...

At least we've still got Captain America and Iron Man Smile Until somebody, finally, realizes Robert Downey Jr. is a lot older than he acts ...

Well we had Mel Gibson playing William Wallace who was even knocking off the princess so I suppose anything is possible. Laughing
