One dead after missing trawler search Empty One dead after missing trawler search

Post by Irn Bru Sun Nov 02, 2014 9:24 pm

A fisherman rescued after a trawler got into difficulty in the North Sea has died.

A search and rescue operation was launched for skipper and crew of the vessel, called Ocean Way, after it ran into problems off the Northumberland coast.

The person who died was one of three people winched from the water and airlifted to hospital by RAF helicopters.

Two more crew members are still missing and the search for them continues.

The skipper is British while the four crew were Filipino, according to reports.

This is the Ocean Way which is a Fraserburgh register boat crewed by a Filipino crew and a British skipper. I hadn't thought that the weather was that bad that a sturdy fishing trawler would have got into such serious trouble.

I think that hope must be fading for the two crew members still missing. Hope I'm wrong.
