Limits to lengths of posts
Just to let you all know there has been a limit set to the length of posts - it isn't drastic, it's just to stop long C&P's and people who waffle a bit.....
Now it isn't going to affect us mostly, especially the less wordy among us. It is, as I've said to stop long C&P's and to cut down the people who want to moan a lot....ie me.
Any questions feel free to ask. Just keep it bloody short or it'll get chopped off.

Yes, I ran into the same thing trying to post the entire Renard story here. It cut me off at a little over 11,000 words.

Is there a minimum? Might help cut out people who can't express an idea cogently.

That is a fair point.
Sometimes a response also takes up many views and is thus long, which will mean now posting such a reply over two or 3 posts.
Hey ho, some people live by endless rules.

Wolf usually gets a chuckle outta me, Nicko. It's like one of those comedic roasts...you gotta learn how to take it and keep grinnin'.
You're lucky...he's made you famous.

Re: Limits to lengths of posts
yet another attack by the intellectually bereft
Not only do they support P.C. and all that means for the destruction of freedom of expression, but now they limit not only the TYPE of words and meanings you can use but HOW MANY words you can use.
We know the progressive can encompass a whole conversation in a single grunt, but for decent exploration of any worthwhile topic a few more words are generally needed....
I suspect this is just another attempt to prevent proper discussion and rebuttal of their simplistic one line politics and to prevent rebuttal of their (no doubt soon to come) conspiracy theories over ebola, in order to justify them spending OUR billions on someone elses problems, which could be dealt with far more easily.....and to stop criticism of their hug a terrorist policies and soft...........
{system warning ...you have run out of words}

That's a parody, right? At least a self-parody?
Forumotion sets the word limit, our sinister cabal doesn't have that much control over the site ...
Thanks, otherwise, for the most ridiculous thing I've read in, oh, the past hour or so.
Pro-tip -- if the site tells you your post is too long, you can break it up into multiple posts. And we horrible admins will be forced to find some other diabolical means of limiting your expression ...

Re: Limits to lengths of posts
I wonder if there will ever be a time when an admin or mod on a site makes an announcement and everyone says:
"Jolly gosh! What a splendid idea! I am in so much agreement my head is bobbing up and down like one of those bobby-headed dogs in the back of a car!"
I will pass on to forumotion, our various degrees of joy at this wonderful development.....
If I can find the right words to express myself, that is.

CONSIDERING that the two most boring and wordy excessively-c&p'ing ex-members flounced off unceremoniously a couple of months back (and it's not like either smelly or sassy ever had any truly scintillating tales to tell, anyways..), I don't consider that a limit of a few thousand words will negatively affect anyone here at the moment...
I find that 200-300 words is usually more than enough when simply analysing a few points ~ while the sort of puerile rubbish that nicko, Tommy and Puzzled tend to flood the airwaves with can usually be demolished with 10-15 words plus a couple of choice insulting put-downs to keep them in their place..
IF somebody can't fit a response into whatever the limits may be, then it's probably time that they learnt about the use of chapters, sections and sub-sections in their compositions !
