Desert Pea Media is a charity organisation that runs collaborative storytelling projects in regional and remote Indigenous communities using music, film and performance to create dialogue around change.

Song Nation Volume 1 is the first official release from Desert Pea Media -
a compilation of 11 songs and music videos created with 10 Indigenous communities around regional and remote Australia.

The annual Song Nation tour began in 2011 and evolved as a partnership program between Desert Pea Media (DPM), & The Smugglers of Light Foundation (SOL), with financial support from The Australasian Performers Rights Association (APRA), UN Ltd, in collaboration with a range of schools and community organizations in remote communities.

The initiative began as a way to empower young people to create dialogue around social and cultural issues, engaging young people with community, cultural identity, and advocating awareness and educating both locally and amongst wider audiences.

Song Nation Volume 1 represents over a decade of work in communities, made possible by an amazing network of partners, family and friends. We would like to dedicate this entire production to all of the young people, community members, elders, local partners and anyone who helped create these productions with us.
