I know this sounds daft but I was shocked when I read it. Almost like great people are not supposed to die.

90 years is a long life Sphinx, but agree with your views that where some people you have grown up and admire, you just do not see them as dying.

RIP to the man. He is without doubt the most influential person ever in the British film industry and he did so much for it and his profession. He's a legend and I loved so many of his films. 'In which He Served' was one of his first and his portrayal of John Christie in 10 Rillington Place was so amazing it was creepy and skin crawlingly real.
A sad loss but he leaves behind a legacy for British fil makers that will never be matched by anyone.
