One third of children who took part in the Premier League Reading Stars project made a year's progress or more after just 10 weeks of the scheme
Top footballers including Frank Lampard, Ashley Young and Raheem Sterling are having a positive impact on those who are struggling with reading at school.
The number of children taking part in the Premier League Reading Stars programme who said they enjoy reading “very much” tripled after the ten-week scheme.
The project – which is a collaboration between the National Literary Trust and the Premier League – is aimed at children aged between 9 and 13 who are falling behind in class. 20 Premier League footballers feature in films in order to set reading challenges and talk about their favourite books.

I hope the programme continues.  Proof that support and sport can make such an impact on lives.
