'Death and horror' in Gaza as thousands flee Israeli bombardment
Fiercest fighting yet as Israel widens ground offensive and faces accusations of war crimes over rising number of civilian deaths

The fiercest fighting of the 13-day war in Gaza erupted on Sunday morning as Israel dramatically widened its ground offensive, sending tanks and troops into urban areas and causing thousands of panicked civilians to flee.
Images of the corpses of women and children were posted on Facebook as hospitals were overwhelmed with the dead, injured and those seeking sanctuary from the onslaught.
Palestinian human rights organisations warned that the disproportionate number of civilian deaths could constitute a war crime committed by Israel.
People ran from their homes, some barefoot and nearly all empty-handed. Others crowded on the backs of trucks or rode on the bonnets of cars in a desperate attempt to flee. Sky News reported some had described a "massacre" in Shujai'iya neighbourhood. Witnesses reported hearing small arms fire inside Gaza, suggesting gun battles on the streets. Heavy shelling continued from the air and sea.
Late on Saturday evening, Israeli forces hit eastern areas of Gaza City with the heaviest bombardment yet of the 13-day war. The assault was most intense in the direction of Shujai'iya, where an orange glow of flames lit up the sky. At one stage, artillery and mortar rounds were hitting the outskirts of the city every five seconds. Later in the night jets flew low passes over the coast.
As the assault continued into Sunday morning, Israel disclosed that four soldiers have now been killed in its ground offensive. It said that at least 26 wounded soldiers evacuated to hospitals. There were unconfirmed reports that Israel suffered significant military casualties in a cross-border attack by Hamas militants on Sunday morning.
As Sunday dawned, a thin pall of smoke hung over the sea front while tank fire echoed through deserted streets. Amid the renewed offensive, large numbers of residents of the areas under attack fled the outskirts for Gaza's city centre, while residents called radio stations pleading for evacuation.
At the entrance to Shujai'iya, the Guardian saw families squeezing into the back of what few vehicles were available as streets further east were pounded by artillery fire.
Columns of people, many of them too scared, angry and shocked to speak, approached down the main road to the east and from side streets even as small arms fire was audible in the distance.
One of those fleeing was Sabreen Hattad, aged 34, with her three children. "The Israeli shells were hitting the house. We stayed the night because we were so scared but about six in the morning we decided to escape," she said.
"But where are we supposed to go? The ambulances could not enter and so we ran under shell fire."
Three other men pass by in a hurry clutching bedding in their arms. Asked what they had seen they would only answer: "Death and horror."
Many of those escaping Shujai'iya made for Gaza's central Shifa hospital, which was engulfed by chaotic scenes and ambulances ferrying the dead came in a steady steam, among them a local TV cameraman, Khaled Hamad, killed during the overnight offensive, wheeled out wrapped in a bloody plastic shroud.
Those who had fled congregated in corridors, on stairs and in the hospital car park. Staff put mattresses on floors to accommodate the injured, while some patients were being evacuated.
Aish Ijla, aged 38, whose leg was broken by shrapnel, said: "We live very close to the border. When the shells started we couldn't leave the house. It is two storeys. The shells were hitting the upper floor so we all moved downstairs. There were 30 of us in the house. Then the shrapnel started hitting the door.
"It was quiet for a moment and we decided to run. But as we were on the road a shell landed near me, breaking my leg. I told the family to go on with out me and carried on going for a little bit and stopping then going on. Eventually an ambulance reached me after two hours."
More than 63,000 people had sought sanctuary in 49 shelters it was providing in Gaza, and it expected the numbers to rise, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said. "The number has tripled in the last three days reflecting the intensity of the conflict and the inordinate threats the fighting is posing to civilians. We call on all sides to exercise maximum restraint and to adhere to obligations under international law to protect civilians and humanitarian workers," said spokesman Chris Gunness.
An Israeli air strike on the house of senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya killed his son and daughter-in-law and two children, hospital officials said. Near the southern town of Rafah shelling killed four Palestinians, according to officials.
Israel sent more troops into Gaza overnight after demolishing more than a dozen Hamas tunnels and intensifying tank fire on border areas.
Lt-Col Peter Lerner of the IDF said additional troops had been sent into Gaza on the orders of the government. "Forces have undergone an intensified training and thorough planning period and are prepared and stand ready for the task at hand," he said.
Since the start of Israel-Hamas fighting almost two weeks ago, 348 Palestinians have been killed and 2,700 wounded in Israeli air and artillery strikes, according to Palestinian health officials. A quarter of the deaths were reported since the start of the ground offensive late Thursday, they said.
Shawan Jabarin of the Palestinian human rights organisation Al-Haq, warned that Israel could be committing war crimes. "Israel has one of the most technologically advanced armies in the world both in terms of weaponry and intelligence. Yet, throughout this latest escalation of attacks, as with Operation Cast Lead and Operation Pillar of Defence, we see a disproportionate number of civilian deaths and damage to civilian property."
Jabarin added: "The obligation not to target civilians and civilian infrastructure is absolute and any intentional violation of this obligation amounts to a war crime."
As fighting raged, the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, headed to Qatar on Sunday as part of renewed cease-fire efforts. He was due to meet the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, in Doha.
Abbas was also expected to meet Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader based in the Qatari capital.
Meanwhile, according to the Egyptian newspaper Aharam, the US secretary of state, John Kerry, was travelling to Cairo to aid the mediation effort.
Hamas last week rejected an Egyptian call to both sides to halt hostilities, insisting on advance guarantees that Israel and Egypt will significantly ease their border blockade of Gaza. Qatar has presented a ceasefire proposal incorporating Hamas's demands, while Egypt said on Saturday it had no plans to revise its ceasefire proposal.
Israel is opposed to Qatar's involvement, and insists that Egypt must be a party to any deal. Doha hosts a large number of exiled Islamists from across the Middle East including Meshaal.
The French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, who flew to Israel after meetings in Egypt and Jordan, said on Saturday efforts to secure a ceasefire had failed. "Sadly I can say that the call for a ceasefire has not been heard, and on the contrary, there's a risk of more civilian casualties that worries us," he said, after talks with the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the Israeli military, its soldiers have uncovered 34 shafts leading into about a dozen underground tunnels, some as deep as 30 metres. Israel has said demolishing tunnels is the principal goal of its ground operation and it has released footage showing tunnels being demolished by excavators and air strikes.
The IDF reported there were three cross-border incidents on Saturday. The most serious involved 12 Palestinian militants disguised in Israeli uniforms, who emerged from a tunnel in Israel to fire an anti-tank missile at Israeli troops, killing two and injuring several others.
They were "aiming to carry out a lethal attack" on a nearby Israeli community, the IDF said. The dead soldiers were named as Bar Rahav, 21, and Benayahu Rubel, 20.
At least one Palestinian was killed in the clash. Hamas said its fighters took some of the soldiers' weapons back to their hideouts.
In other confrontations, Palestinian gunmen emerged from tunnels and and exchanged gunfire with Israeli soldiers. Two of the militants were killed, and another died when the explosive vest he was wearing detonated, the military said.
In one incident, Hamas fighters carried tranquilisers and handcuffs, indicating they "intended to abduct Israelis", according to the military.
As the offensive intensified, electricity and water supplies in Gaza were increasingly disrupted.
The Gaza City municipality said a main water line was damaged, leaving parts of the city without water. Gaza has suffered from rolling blackouts for years, but periods without electricity have increased to up to 20 hours at a day.

And yet both of you fail to condemn Hamas who has committed human rights violations against the Palestinians, where you both fail to show the same zeal and passion against far worse atrocities happening to Muslims in Syria, Iraq etc , which would lead anyone to believe the pair of you are antisemitic, which is of course backed by your view to exterminate Jews by Hitler.
The difference with many who debate against you is that we all condemn Israel fir when they have done wrongs, both of you fail to ever condemn Hamas and thus the pair of you back an organisation that is classed as a terrorist organisation which has little friends even in the Arab world, that speaks volumes

"They call us now.
Before they drop the bombs.
The phone rings
and someone who knows my first name
calls and says in perfect Arabic
“This is David.”
And in my stupor of sonic booms and glass shattering symphonies
still smashing around in my head
I think "Do I know any Davids in Gaza?"
They call us now to say
Run.
You have 58 seconds from the end of this message.
Your house is next.
They think of it as some kind of
war time courtesy.
It doesn’t matter that
there is nowhere to run to.
It means nothing that the borders are closed
and your papers are worthless
and mark you only for a life sentence
in this prison by the sea
and the alleyways are narrow
and there are more human lives
packed one against the other
more than any other place on earth
Just run.
We aren’t trying to kill you.
It doesn’t matter that
you can’t call us back to tell us
the people we claim to want aren’t in your house
that there’s no one here
except you and your children
who were cheering for Argentina
sharing the last loaf of bread for this week
counting candles left in case the power goes out.
It doesn’t matter that you have children.
You live in the wrong place
and now is your chance to run
to nowhere.
It doesn’t matter
that 58 seconds isn’t long enough
to find your wedding album
or your son’s favorite blanket
or your daughter’s almost completed college application
or your shoes
or to gather everyone in the house.
It doesn’t matter what you had planned.
It doesn’t matter who you are
Prove you’re human.
Prove you stand on two legs.
Run."

Well said Didge. Much worse is going on in Iraq RIGHT NOW and yet not a peep from Sassy and SM, which speaks volumes -

Muslim on Muslim and Muslim on Christian atrocities obviously don't bother them.
More than 5,000 Iraqis have died in the violence in the country so far this year, a large proportion of them women and children suffering gruesome deaths at the hands of ISIS extremists and over-zealous security forces, says a detailed new UN report.
“Every day we receive accounts of a terrible litany of human rights violations being committed in Iraq against ordinary Iraqi children, women and men, who have been deprived of their security, their livelihoods, their homes, education, healthcare and other basic services,” said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay.
“The deliberate or indiscriminate targeting of civilians, the killing of civilians, the use of civilians as shields, the hindering of access for civilians to humanitarian assistance may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity. Parties to the conflict are required by international human rights law and international humanitarian law to prevent such violations and abuses from taking place.”
The new report says that June, which marked the escalation of the offensive by the Sunni jihadist group ISIS, has been the most chaotic, with a conservative estimate of more than 1,500 people killed and more than 600,000 displaced from their homes, half of the total number of internal Iraqi refugees.

Sass, they caused this. It happened before everyone's eyes. No amount of victim-posturing will change things that people witnessed with their own eyes.

SEXY MAMA wrote:We have a couple of Zionists here who are WITH ISRAEL!!!!

I STAND WITH ISRAEL AND PROUD TO STAND WITH ISRAEL
WHY WE SUPPORT ISRAEL
The reasons behind our actions
Christian support for the restoration of the Jews to their ancient homeland has been around for as long as Christians have been able to read the Bible for themselves. For there they read about God’s covenant with Abraham in which He bequeathed to him and his descendants the land of Canaan. And they read in the Hebrew prophets that although the children of Israel may be exiled from the land for a time, that one day God would regather them to the land one final time, and draw them and then the world unto Himself.
History
Since much of Christian history is stained with the sin of antisemitism the modern movement of Christian support of Israel at first glance looks like a new movement, or aberration that will surely soon correct itself. However, something happened over 500 years ago that changed the course of Christianity and prepared the way for this significant shift in attitude towards the Jewish people. This event was the translation of the Bible into the vernacular language.
As soon as Christians could read the Bible for themselves they attempted to change the state church and make it more like the early church in the New Testament. This in turn brought about great persecution and many had to flee their homes and countries.
They also became aware of the Hebraic roots of Christianity and began studying Hebrew, and the Jewish Feasts, and they identified with the persecuted people of Israel. They also read that God had promised to one day regather the Jewish people to their ancient homeland and they began praying for this to happen. This means that for four hundred years before the state of Israel was established that whole movements of Christians were praying for that day.
As the number of Bible-believing Christians grew so did their influence and their involvement in the re-establishming of Israel. It was Theodore Herzl, the father of modern Zionism, who first used the term Christian Zionist in recognizing Christian participants in the First Zionist Congress in 1897.
Christian Zionism
The Bible is very clear that the Jewish people were given the land of Canaan by God Himself. He gave the land to Abraham and to his descendents through Isaac as an everlasting possession (Genesis 12:1-3) because God was forming and fashioning a people through whom He would reach the world.
Crucial to God’s redemptive purpose was the land of Canaan as a national homeland for His people. And through this nation He revealed to a lost world the Word of God, the prophets, the covenants, and the Messiah (Romans 9:4-5).
We also read in the Bible that though God said the people of Israel would be exiled from that land due to disobedience, that He promised to bring them back - and not just once, but a second time as well (Isaiah 11:11).
God is not finished with the nation of Israel for she will one day become the chief of the nations. From Jerusalem the word of the Lord will go forth to the nations and the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Israel’s Messiah will reign in righteousness; He will rule the nations with a rod of iron and nations will not learn war anymore (Jeremiah 31:36; Isaiah 2:2-4).
Therefore, Christian Zionists support the Jewish people’s return to the land and the rebuilding of their nation. Now as throughout history, Israel’s enemies seek to destroy the Jewish state and wipe it off the face of the earth but we will stand with Israel and will not be silent (Isaiah 62:6).
We as Christians must comfort Israel (Isaiah 40:1), bless her (Genesis 12:3), pray for her (Psalm 122:6) and encourage her with God’s precious eternal Word.
My grandmother was a Jew , my mother is a messianic Jew . I have Jewish blood and so very proud of it

Sass, they caused this. It happened before everyone's eyes. No amount of victim-posturing will change things that people witnessed with their own eyes.
Really, such ignorance is intolerable in someone who has access to the facts but refuses to read, look or understand.
This will continue until the root causes are resolved. Israel refuses to accept international legality as a base for resolving the situation with Palestine and Gaza in particular, and it's right wing government is very happy to use military force at the drop of a hat.
The rockets were firing before the so called abduction of the teenagers, and whoever did it, and that is disputed, invading a country is not a proportional response.
Israel talk about their incursions into Gaza and the death inflincted as 'mowing the lawn'. The death toll shows the the asymmetry of power, with the fourth strongest army in the world on one side, funded by America, and a virtually defenceless civilian population on the other, with Hamas having home made rockets that Israel know, because of the defences America help them set up, will never hit anything of value.
By launching the ground offensive on the pretext of the kidnappings, even though a Palestinian boy was burnt to death, Israel has burnt more houses, hospitals and water plants, displaced probably 50,000 people from their homes and turned the enclave that is Gaza into a living hell.
Each side claims to be responding, Israel claiming it is to end the firing of rockets. Hamas claims it is engaged in legitimate resistance to military occupation and the rockets are in response to the violent IDF crackdown on the West Bank following the kidnappings and murder of the three boys, which still, as it was something that was suggested by the Head of Mossad the week previously, has not be proven that it wasn't a set up.
But through it all, the reason for it is Israeli colonialism.
Yes, in 2005 Israel unilaterally disengaged from Gaza, but under International Law it is still the occupying power. Why? Because it controls access to Gaze by land and air and sea. When Israel left it did not leave freedom, it left Gaza as an open air prison and a it's population able to be punched whenever Israel felt like it.
Hamas won a fair election in 2006, but the western allies of Israel, and Israel itself refused to recognise them, yet Gaza was supposed to be free to rule itself, so they decided on an economic way to overthrow it. In 2007 the blockade ensued, they cut Gaza off from the West Bank and the rest of the world and left the people inside it to indescribable suffering.
Proscribed under internation law, a blockade is collective punishment, so since 2007 the Gazans have been under an unrelenting, illegal seige.
The handling of the situation at the moment is normal for Netanyahu, brutal military force to keep the Gazans under control and keep them remote from the West Bank. He was opposed to the withdrawal in 2005 and he continues to reject a two state solution.
During the Kerry peace talks Netanyahu kept expanding the settlement and didn't have a constructive proposal to put. Kerry even drew up a security plan under which Israel would be able to leave the West Bank. Netanyahu dismissed it as not worth the paper.
In April, Hamas and Fatah reached an Accord, which infuriated Netanyahu, who said it was a 'Terror Pact', how dare the two areas of Palestine get together and work together. The Unity Government Accord was very moderate in it's policies and people. Mainly made of Fatah and without one member of Hamas. To try and work towards stopping the isolation, Hamas had virtually handed over power to Fatah, Fatah being remarkably pro-Western. The Unity Government accepted the conditions of the US and the EU for receiving aid, recognition of Israel, respecting past agreements and renunciation of violence.
Israel's response? Economic warfare. It stopped the government paid officials in Gaza from moving the Gaza government payroll to the Unity Government in Ramallan and it made the seige around the Gazan borders even tighter. The Unity Government thus could not happen. Israel didn't want it, they did not want a Unity Government, even if it did not have a member of Hamas in it. So they made sure they destroyed it. By doing so, they left Hamas with no choice, so after all that hard work, peace was not possible and Israel carried on talking about Hamas as a terrorist organisation and inflicted further horrors on the Gazans.
Everyone can see that a ceasefire is needed, especially the people of Gaza, but the one put up by Egypt met what Israel wanted, but didn't contain one thing for Gaza. And they didn't even bother to consult Hamas. Hamas found out through the media, there were no discussions, no seeing what was needed by both sides, it was simply Sisi allowing Netanyahu to look good. Hamas requires an end of Israeli aggression, the easing of the blockade and the return of the prisoners Israel took after the murder of the three boys. It will not accept less, and why should it?
The international community rose up against Putin over the shooting down of the Malaysian plane, because it was mostly western people who were the victims. They need to do the same to Israel and insist that it abides by the 63 UN resolutions against it, ends the occupation, give back the land it has stolen and allow the Palestinians to live in their own country in freedom or stop handing over the funding that keeps Israel strong, and have a world embargo on it products.

I have to say that I do not support Israel in this violence, and certainly not because of my religious beliefs. I think it's a very difficult situation because Israel is being attacked by terrorists and they are defending themselves, but on the other hand, they are reacting in a manner which I think is very bad. We've seen all this before several times - remember when they were in Lebanon in 2006? They went too far that time as well.
I'll also just say that there are too many threads on this subject, so it's difficult to know where to condemn the actions of Israel and/or Hamas.

OK...NOW........
when I have ever suggested that WE should fight fire with fire....I.E in the case of Afghanistan, suggeted that our troops should be freed of restraint when dealing with the insurgents, I was met by sanctimonious howls of "we must be better than them"....
So, in applying that maxim...where does that leave israel?? huh??
lets see...a few rockets...most of which either crashed, missed or were shot down.....is met with unparalelled savagery and violence....use of white phosphorus, use of flechette sells, indiscriminate shelling (and DONT tell me those kids on the beach were a "mistake" Israel is too fond of "mistakes") TANKS????? in suburban warfare when the civilian population is still in place....christ on a bike can you imagine if we had sent tanks (not APC's) into ireland???
I know what dodgy didge is going to say...the civil population had time to flee....BUT pray, where to....I dont see any open borders for them to flee across...I didnt hear that israel had allowed unarmed non combatant civilians to cross into israel and thus comparitive safety.....
You know, tradidtionally when a city was under seige they surrounded it and and gave it first the option of surrender.....when the time allocated to that expired they then warned of "no quarter" and (often) played a long piece of funery music for the (soon to be ) dead defenders..... During THIS time any one could leave unarmed and were guaranteed safe passage.....ONLY THEN, after that time period had expired did they begin the grisly business of massacre
where did israel act with such decency?
It could have, and would have got nothing but support in general, instead they behave like a snarling pack of dogs tearing up the fox that has barked at them.....

Really! Do you think that the Israeli's would have been justified in killing even more Palestinian's and increase the expansion of the settlements?

Not really. I understand their frustration with these pesky terrorists, but killing civilians isn't really on.

Wow over a thousand rockets is now seen as nothing and down played where this started the conflict and that now also Gaza is besieged even though it also borders Egypt, where its government is recognized as a terrorist organisation, who is hell bent on the destruction of all Jews, so much so it started this conflict knowing full well its support had nose dived to the point it needed a blood sacrifice of people to gain sympathy and PR. If this was the Taliban and they had attacked and been retaliated by the Americans with drones, Victor what not bat an eyelid and know doubt claim the Taliban were savages. Is Israel over the top going after all their military capabilities of attacking Israel? Of course Israel does not shy away from doing what it has always done and go after them, is using the ground offensive too much, yes, but you equate this to throwing rocks, again tell this to Israeli citizens, who have been killed and injured, should thy just go hey, its okay, the chances are far less they might be killed and do nothing about Hamas keep on attacking them and has refused any ceasefire and is know to use humans as shield, or does placing rockets in a school not evidence enough of the cowardly behavior of an extremist organisation enough for you to even realise this. The ground offensive shelling is wrong, as it can be indiscriminate, but do not make such a poor case of throwing rocks, when every launch of a rocket is a war crime, because it is indiscriminate in who it targets and ass seen you poorly down play this based upon the fact Israel actually spends money on defenses, where Hamas builds not even any bomb shelters for its citizens. I do not agree with all the tactics taken by Israel and clearly they have made some war crimes, but to down play some realities as you do poorly trying to excuse Hamas is also very disgusting.
The question you should be asking is why is it that it is always Hamas that does attack Israel, that has had years of suicide bomb attacks in its own country, what should Israel do, when it has suffered years of terrorism at the hands of a terrorist group who's sole intent and purpose is the extermination of its people?
Bend over and submit?
No, they are fighting a very difficult and complex situation, whee clearly Hamas does clearly place most of its military instillation within civilian areas and this is excused and not seen also as a cowardly act but again excused, where Israel does at least try to warn but also makes terrible judgement in some cases and again I condemn some of their actions, as they are utterly wrong, but lets face some home truths and stop down playing now where people and children die or are injured by indiscriminate attacks and has a right to defend itself.

If you cannot understand the allusion (NOT illusion) between throwing rocks at windows and a civilian shooting the rock thrower then you are a simplistic fool
It is a question of proportionality....
HOW MANY hits have these rockets made...how many casualties caused??
how much economic damage?

No its a question of do people die or get injured from such rocket attacks?
Yes, thus you are thus saying and equating to doing nothing about them where I have stated I condemn some of the actions of the ground offensive or have you missed that part in your haste to reply?
Any death or injury that attacks Israel is wrong because every rocket attack is an attack which sole purpose is indiscriminate attacking of civilian life, where again even Israel with all its technology cannot save lives from such attacks. You see i condemn where Israel is wrong, but the fact is Hamas clearly uses also humans as shields which is also extremely wrong.
Ask yourself, why has Hamas each time refused a ceasefire, when such a ceasefire brings a stop to fighting so then talks can be held, if you want fighting to stop and people dying then this if the course you take, Hamas keeps refusing. So is it wrong in its ground offensive yes, do I condemn this ground offensive, yes, do I support Israel to take away the military capabilities of Hamas, yes.

yet id doing so you must condone their actions.....
this is an either or situation....
either you condemn their actions......
OR
you support their right by any means to "take away the capabilities of hamas"
You see YOUR argument, laudable as it is can ONLY apply where reasonable men are in charge, this is NOT the case...
as I pointed out that hospital COULD have been taken WITHOUT shelling it....
If the intention is to deny hamas ANY launch pad then that is a fine "excuse" for the anhilation of gaza

1) Poor argument, the actions of some individuals, who made a very terrible and wrong decision, that is not even a counter and not the reality of many Palestinians using hospitals in Israel. 180,000
Palestinians were treated in Israel last year, 3000 of them emergencies
2) I thought you were claiming they were not treating the wounded and if most wounded are taken to Palestinian hospitals, are you suggesting they force wounded people to their field hospital?

I see you are removing any responsibility for Hamas now also for the citizens of Gaza, that is very interesting.

Again whitewashing responsibility of Hamas, that is very telling!
I of course believe Israel is part responsible but not fully responsible., you though wish to make Hamas guilt free, which again is very telling.
Why have many people never been punished, look at Tony Blair and Bush!?
Again are you claiming all Israel medias are biased towards Israel?
Simple question

as to that ...there can be no doubt that hamas are far from blameless...but neither side is exactly covered in glory are they....
hamas lob a few rockest here and there and make a lot of noise......and israelis build settlements illegally, deny palestinians access to critical medical care (and not just "the odd one or two") they blockade urgent supplies, restrict power and water and even payment to necessary officials.... palestinian farmers and kids have been used basically as "target practice" by the IDF and its just "mistakes" they deliberately keep the palestinian enclaves in perpetual poverty .....hardly the actions of a nation looking for peace are they......
Yes both sides want their collective arses slapping.....but israel needs the bigger slapping.....
Guest- Guest
Re: 'Death and horror' in Gaza as thousands flee Israeli bombardment
So well over a thousand rockets is now a few to you?
The settlements are wrong, not sure how many times to say that, so is human rights abuses that Hamas does with unfair trials and execution of its citizens, normally people who disagree with them
They do not deny access to medical care as seen in Israel:
Palestinian medical tourism[edit]
A significant number of residents of the Palestinian territories seek medical treatment in Israel, often for sophisticated tests or treatments not available at Palestinian hospitals. Their treatment is paid for under a financial arrangement with the Palestinian Authority, or in some cases, at their own expense. Medical treatment for Gaza Strip residents is paid for by the Palestinian Authority or organizations such as the Peres Center for Peace.[29]
Palestinians who apply for medical treatment in Israel must obtain a humanitarian entry permit from Israel, of which thousands are issued annually. In January 2009, during the Gaza War, the Palestinian Authority temporarily canceled financial coverage for all medical care for Palestinians in Israeli hospitals, including coverage for the chronically ill and those in need of complex care not available in the Palestinian territories.Palestinian officials stated that they wished to send the patients to neighboring Arab countries instead, accusing Israeli officials of using Palestinian patients, some injured in Israeli airstrikes, in PR campaigns to improve Israel's tarnished image during the Gaza War.[30][31] In 2012, The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health reported spending approximately $42 million in 2011 to finance medical coverage of Palestinians in Israeli hospitals and the Arab World.[32] Arab citizens of Israel belong to the same health care system as that of all other citizens of the country.
File:Palestinian woman from the Gaza Strip is giving birth to quadruplets in a caesarean surgery in Israel Hospital.JPG
Gaza Strip resident giving birth to quadruplets at an Israeli hospital, 2008
The quality of medical care in Israel is significantly better than anywhere in the West Bank and Gaza. Irwin Mansdorf, a member of Task Force on Medical and Public Health Issues, Scholars for Peace in the Middle East wrote about routine care that Palestinians continue to receive in Israeli hospitals and from Israeli physicians.[33]
Saving Children, established by the Peres Peace Center, enables hundreds of Palestinian children to receive free medical care, in particular cardiac surgery, from Israeli surgeons.[34]
"Save A Child's Heart" is a program in which any child with heart problems can receive free medical attention and surgery from select doctors and hospitals within Israel. From 1996 to 2007, 4,591 children had been examined world wide, of the 1848 children treated 828 (45%) were Palestinian.

Didge wrote:Again whitewashing responsibility of Hamas, that is very telling!
I of course believe Israel is part responsible but not fully responsible.,
so Israel isnt wholey responsible for the decisions of its servants to deny medical acess to civilians??? how warped is that?
talk about run with the wolves and howl with the hounds......
how does hamas bear any guilt for the decisions of the IDF to refuse ambulances through??
(not withstanding that of course hamas bears part of the blame for the whole situation) but that does not excuse the actions of the servants of the isreali govt.......they are both in fact and in law seperable....
you though wish to make Hamas guilt free, which again is very telling.
Why have many people never been punished, look at Tony Blair and Bush!? hmmm...hmmmmm on that we agree...but they are virtually untouchable for a number of (bad) reasons, an IDF soldier should NOT be....
Again are you claiming all Israel medias are biased towards Israel?
oh come off it didge....israel is at war.....how long do you think an editor would stay in place if he said the wrong thing....wind your neck out of the sand....its not a pretty game,
the criticism allowed is enough to continue the illusion of press freedom, but really.....
Simple question

those people who have died at the crossing from cardiac problems are fictional are they
those elderly who have been refused entry are fictional are they??

Re: 'Death and horror' in Gaza as thousands flee Israeli bombardment
Sorry but am not sure if you can read, there are always instances of where sadly people have been denied, which may have as seen other reasons as to why, which again I have condemned, but as seen countless thousands have not been denied, so you are clutching at straws.
