Dave's reshuffle
1. The Minister for Equalities but not equal marriage
Nicky Morgan has replaced Gove at Education, while keeping the Minister for Women brief she has had since Maria Miller’s resignation. This morning, Cameron also announced she was being given the Equalities brief, except… she voted against equal marriage. To get around the problem of having your Minister for Equalities opposing your flagship equalities policy, they have given Nick Boles, the new Minister of State for Business and Education, the job of dealing with same-sex marriage.
2. EU Commissioner doesn’t want to be EU Commissioner
Lord Hill has become the new EU Commissioner, but in an interview with Conservative Home last yearhe was asked whether he would want the job – and he replied: “Non, non, non.” LabourList would like to extend our congratulations to him on the role.
It’s not the first time he’s been stuck with a job he doesn’t like. In September 2012, he went for a meeting with David Cameron and resigned from his post as Secretary of State for Schools. Except Cameron didn’t notice that he was quitting. Hill remained in the job for anther four months.
3. “Sack Cameron” Osborne ally will now attend Cabinet
Last week, Matt Hancock posed in front of graffiti that said “Sack Cameron”. This week, he gets promoted. Hancock is the new Minister f State for Business, Enterprise and Energy, and he will now attend Cabinet.
It’s good news for George Osborne in the positioning for next leader, as Hancock is a well recognised Osborne ally. While Gove’s leadership star may have fallen, his new role as Chief Whip makes him best placed to judge who the Tory backbenchers are likely to support to replace Cameron. Osborne’s biggest threat will still be May, but Hammond’s promotion to Foreign Secretary may raise his hopes.

I think Mandy Rice-Davis's famous quote might well be applied to an assessment of the re-shuffle lifted directly from Labour List ("Labour's biggest independent grassroots e-network") and regurgitated by a minor malcontent Left Wing blogger, don't you?
Actually, in my humble and even more minor opinion, Cameron has made a number of crucial mistakes.
Firstly, although women were most certainly under represented in the previous cabinet, the whole exercise (which, it transpires, was engineered in part at least by his Aussie spin doctor) has managed to give all the appearance of tokenism. OK, so the Fourth Estate are largely to blame for that, but if the new Environment Secretary will insist on making her debut by displaying as much shapely thigh as a pole dancer there can hardly have been much surprise in the Tory Press office when the path to the door of No 10 looked more like a models' catwalk in the following day's newspapers.
I am sorry to see Gove shunted out of education. He really was the first education minister for donkeys' years to take on the loony left, strike happy (and aptly titled) NUT and to insist that the deplorable state school standards bequeathed by Labour were massively improved. Whether his successor has the same resolve remains to be seen.
Hague may or may not prove to be more of a big hitter in his new role; he is certainly among the best of orators in the house - providing he re-gains his previous standards. The role of Foreign Secretary is vital, but by its very nature it demands that the office holder subjugates his personal desire for an "image" to the requirements of the job, much of which has of necessity to be carried out away from the glare of publicity.
I think that he has more ability in his hemorrhoids that most of the Shadow Cabinet have in their entire bodies; only time will tell if he is allowed to make use of it.
And as an ex serviceman I would have preferred to see Liam Fox brought back in from the cold and given the defence portfolio.

Yeah sure, Fred. Gove was just the guy to take on the strikers.
That's him on the picket line...

Well I'm not sure when that photo was taken; the circumstances under which it was taken or the background to the apparent dispute. What I am sure about, however, is that people do change markedly as increasing maturity and life experiences combine to mould their adult opinions and actions. Were it not so they would be incapable of taking on real responsibilities.
It is interesting that all you appear able to do when confronted by genuinely expressed opinions is - as usual - to scour the internet and to plagiarise those of someone else, or at least (as appears to be common among several dedicated Left wing posters) to scrabble around in the hope of finding some historic photograph or cartoon which you desperately hope serious participants will regard as being relevant.
Even your opening post and the basis for this thread was simply a politically inspired ramble in a rabidly partisan web publication, regurgitated by by a minor Left wing blogger and trade union activist who was presumably too lazy or too lacking in literary talent to formulate her own conclusions and to argue them effectively.
