Do you think black singers sometimes sound better and more unique than white singers?
First topic message reminder :
Now, let's not bet into a rammy on this one! ...
And I know there are fantastic singers either end, take Bryan Adams, truly amazing...
But then take the like of a couple of my other faves....
Sydney Youngblood, Haddaway and Martha Wash...truly outstanding...not to mention Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley etc...
Of course much comes down to personal taste, but I've always thought that black singers have talent in abundance , even without putting in too much effort!
Whad' ya think guys?

...I'm missing no point Didge and I never claimed to have been born when Elvis started his career ...and he certainly does not sound like a black person singing to me.
I only said that I thought black people had something a bit different and special about their singing voices , a unique sound, and I already stated that their are poor black and white singers, but the black singers who are good often do sound very unique.
You are the one who brought about the issue of racism on here Didge, not me.
Point so far above your head, it has cleared the moon, for example again, when Buddy Holly played at the Apollo, the black audience was expecting him to be black based on his voice, Elvis was thought to be black based on his voice, you have the hindsight of TV to see that he is actually white, so your point is so poor it shows you have no concept what I am saying
No, your thread title has now changed so do not lie, which you were quick to do when you did realise it was racial, as why change it? Again where you asked who was the better singers, black or whites, so please do not try to back out of your original claim and many people sound different, even if they are white for example. or have you never heard accents before?
So please take your racial arguments elsewhere, guess Big Andy was right about you after all then, if you cannot see making a claim based on skin colour can make a person a better singer.
..I never changed the thread title because of any lie or racism, so you can just stop trying to score cheap points again, and I see your upset in that you say BA was right about me...on what exactly?
The original thread title read.....do you think black or white singers sound better?
I changed it because of your whinging and trying to say I was being racist.
It's a pathetic argument you've got Didge and not once did I imply anything racist....
You done that..all by yourself.

Well, there are some good black singers.
And there are some bad ones.

Re: Do you think black singers sometimes sound better and more unique than white singers?
That's true Andy , some poor white and black singers, who actually can't hold a note(and nothing to do with style of singing)
All I meant was that black people most often sound unique, a sound that just doesn't come from a white singer.
And yes Didge...I do think in general that black singers sound better...
Or is that racist?

You changed it because you were making a racial argument, as I easily exposed and sound better means are better, or can you not understand this as well?
No I exposed how poor your understanding is of how racism starts, based on lame view points like you hold here, which you fail to understand as seen.
So is a person a good speaker if they are black or white, does their skin colour make them a better speaker?
Is a politician good, based on whether they are black or white, in other words, their skin colour?
Of course not, they will be good based on their abilities, not whether they have darker or lighter skin.
Now unless you can counter my points, stop making poor excuses for yourself. The worst point here is you even fail to understand by bringing in a racial tone to anything as it does with anything makes for a view point that one group is better than another, sadly I doubt you understand this and it was you from the start that made this racial, which is no suprise given your track record.

It's a joke didge.
The thread is a little bit silly.
I can understand the original question - some black men have fantastic deep voices, slightly unique to their race, but i'm not sure whether it was JD's intention for a silly thread or whether other people are making an issue of it.

What the fuck is wrong with you? The only thing you exposed was your sheer idiocy.
I'm not talking about a speaker ffs, I asked wether folk thought that black singers in general had better sounding singing voices and wether or not they agreed that black singers (not all) , but in general had something unique about their voice?...

There is nothing funny about derogative terms Andy, which you have used, or would you prefer people defined you as a Peado as a joke based on you being English.

Nothing wrong with me Joy, more to the point is there something with you, that you now fail to see the point, so lets ask, would you claim a out of speakers, who would sound better black or white people?
Out of Politicians, who would sound better white or black people?
Out of Teachers, who would sound better, black or white people?
Same logic you are using on singers, but here on their oratory skills!

Well thanks for that Andy, there was no silliness intended on my part, I only wanted to know if other people noticed the difference in the voices of black and white people...
And I agree that often black singers do have a unique and different voice in comparison with a white singer....
More often than not If a song comes on the radio (and I don't even know the artist) ...I can usually tell quickly if it's a black singer.

Look Didge....I asked in my title thread " who do you think sound better singers, black or white singers" I changed it to make it clearer and because you were whining claiming I was a racist in asking this....
What I should have wrote in the first place is want I wrote now..unique, but yes, I still think in general that black singers have a better voice..

And can you show me where I've told lies ?

It's a good thread though - as it stands, the title and the discussion is interesting, as long as posters don't try to make an issue of things.
So, the question - why do they sound different?
Wow, it's a good one.
Could it be that our voices don't sound different, but the way they use them (musical style) makes the result sound different?
Has anybody Googled it?? lol

Actually, because many of us have agreed that they DO sound different, there would be nothing wrong with the question "which singers are better - black or white?".
But maybe JD is using tact by changing the title of the thread, which i guess should be applauded.

No you are just back tracking now Joy and all can see, no suprise there, your first few posts give this away
this whole thread was racist, but clearly you fail to understand but categorizing groups of people as if they are better at something, shows you have little understanding in regards to discrimination and yes I o think it is racist to ask if black or white people have better sounding voices, as what has their skin colour got to do with this, when many people no matter their skin colour have different sounding voices?
You lied about your first question to the thread, you then changed the title, when shown it was racial to then diverge onto a new point.
Its not PC, this is how racist bullshit always starts, yet you fail to understand that as seen, that is the mentality of some lefties for you

Sounding different is how many singers sound, why a difference based again on the skin colour difference between people, when as seen people who sound white look black and visa versa, it means you cannot make generalizations off such claims, because you fail to take these sounds into account

eddie wrote:Didge you yourself said many people thought Elvis was black, yes???
Well, why would that be then?
Perhaps because black singers sound black and white singers sound white?
Come on!! This is stupid!
Read back eddie, I have covered these points and even asked you a question based on your own singing on this!

There's no need to JD - either one is perfectly acceptable.
Exactly.
Look I'm no fan of JD that's no secret.
I think JD is a suck-up, I'm not even sure how his complete change of personality come about tbh, but this thread was never racist.
In that, I have to defend him.
JD in this instance you've done nothing wrong. Neither have I and neither have the millions of others who can tell whether a singer is back or white.

Of course it is, to claim some races are either inferior or superior is racism!
No didge.
I think black people run faster in general - that's not racist.
You're being silly. Of course there are differences in cultures.
That is bullshit as well, if this was the case, no white people would ever be sprinters.
You see more falsehoods, just because at present some individuals are black you are the fastest, a very very small number, does not mean white people are not fast either
So not being silly, to claim a group of people is inferior or superior is racism, plain and simple, this is how absurd stereotypes are formed.

Didge wrote:Joy Division wrote:There Didge,,,I've changed the thread title back, it still reads ...do you think black singers sound better than white singers, but also includes " unique" as that was what was intended in the OP title anyway,
Didge, I only wanted to see if others thought the same as me regards to black singers sounding different and often being very good, but you have again turned another thread I to this fucking crap.
Still not right, again "some black singers"
You only wanted to see if others viewed like you if either blacks were superior or inferior at singing,.
Didge ,,,it's not a case of picking someone because of skin colour ffs!! I just wanted to know if anyone on here also thought that back people happen to have different sounding voices when singing!!, it's just something I've always noticed myself ...
There does seem to be something unique and IMO ...better about a black singers voice...but not always...
There was nothing whatsoever racist in my intentions.

That was not the original question though was it Eddie, which was who was better, you claimed black people sang out of key, based off a poor assumption
I stated people sound different and you can tell some people who they sound and others you cannot, again go back and answer the points already I have made, or do you need me to bump them up for you?

But maybe we all have eddie, maybe there is only one person worthy to walk on this Earth and his name is didge.

You are back tracking from your original racial question, who is superior or inferior at singing between whites and blacks!

There's another thing...black people being fast runners, not them all but black runners often do make the fastest runners Didge....Eddie is right on this!

Nope. Because you made it about racism and it's stupid.
I happen to love soul and the reason is, is that I love their voices. Because I like the tone of black womens voices (not the shrieky ones mind)
So no, I'm not going to listen to your racism claims.
If saying I can tell the difference between black and white singers, or that black men often sing flat, or I prefer a black voice makes me racist then.....
Then I am a racist my friend.

No the thread started out as racist asking who was superior or inferior based on skin colour, who also backed this view to claim blacks sang out of tune!
You clearly do not understand racism and the illogical view point behind it.
No you are not racist Eddie, you just do not understand it!
