I had thought it was due to inbreeding; apparently I was mistaken.

Back in the 1980s and 1990s, America, Russia and parts of Europe were noticing fast declining 'European Honeybee' populations in several agricultural regions, increasing "Spring Dwindle" and sudden colony deaths on a grand scale...

During the late 1990's and early 'noughties' several Aussie commercial beekeepers, and their professional associations, suggested to those American researchers that they should look into heavy rogue pesticide applications as the most likely cause of such sudden colony deaths ~ as this had already previously been identified as a major cause of bee deaths during the 1970s and '80s down here..

THEN, in 2006 a panel of self-declared bee "experts" in the USA hit the world headlines with their reports of "CCD" threatening the world's honeybees ~ and then arrogantly and stupidly claimed that "nobody knew" what was causing theses deaths ! Rolling Eyes

Around 2009/'10 those ignorant nongs then released their findings with apparent "nicotinonoid" pesticide poisonings heading the list of suspect culprits..

IF ONLY those so-called experts had listened to their Aussie, Kiwi, Canadian associates - and quite a few experienced and cluey individual "outsider" American beekeepers as well ~ they could have saved themselves more than a decade of wasted research efforts. And been that much closer to reversing the problem...

INSTEAD they have allowed the GMO and pesticides industries to nearly "steal the lead" again ~ as witnessed currently with Bayer leading the assault by suing the EU over bans against certain pesticides ! Suspect
