Why the Right-Wing Doesn't Like Mr. Rogers
Known the world over as “Mr.” Rogers, Fred hosted the show “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood” for 895 episodes — from 1968 to 2001 — on PBS stations all over the country, and eventually all over the world. Rogers was a Presbyterian minister, but his true gift and passion was for teaching young children about using their imagination and conversational skills to express and deal with their emotions and the world around them. That’s exactly what his show was about, and that’s exactly why the gaggle of useless brain jelly known as “Fox and Friends” felt the need to talk shit, apparently.
The female host — and you’ll forgive me for not taking the time to give a fuck enough to learn her name — actually goes so far as to call Rogers an “evil, evil man.” She was being a bit tongue-in-cheek, but don’t kid yourselves. Conservatives hate Mr. Rogers because he dared to tell us all for thirty years that we were all unique and special just because of who we were. That of course is “liberal propaganda” because as we all know, to conservatives no one has any worth at all…unless they’re super rich, killing someone on a battlefield in the name of someone rich, or your name is Ronald Fucking Reagan. To conservatives, the idea of telling people to have good self-esteem simply because they’re good people and deserve to feel good about themselves is just unheard of.

Their dislike of Rogers just says so much about them. Most people know Rogers was a deeply faithful Christian, but he pointed out the aspects of Christianity that directly contradict their B.S. social Darwinism, so that's enough to knock him off any religious pedestal they would otherwise have put him on.
That reminds me -- the lengths to which the Christian Right will defend laissez-faire capitalism are downright ... religious. I don't know if I've shared this here before, but check this out:

If this is TLDR for you, it basically boils down to, "God says theft is wrong. Taxation is theft. So it's moral to let rich people keep all their money while poor people starve, and it's immoral to 'steal' a small portion of rich people's money to feed the poor."

The Bible mandates free market capitalism. It is anti-socialist.
By Gary North
The essence of democratic socialism is this re-written version of God's commandment: "Thou shalt not steal, except by majority vote."
"Economic democracy" is the system whereby two wolves and a sheep vote on what to have for dinner.
Christian socialists and defenders of economic planning by state bureaucrats deeply resent this interpretation of their ethical position. They resent it because it's accurate.
When Christianity adheres to the judicial specifics of the Bible, it produces free market capitalism.
On the other hand, when Christianity rejects the judicial specifics of the Bible, it produces socialism or some politically run hybrid "middle way" between capitalism and socialism, where politicians and bureaucrats make the big decisions about how people's wealth will be allocated. Economic growth then slows or is reversed. Always.
Free market capitalism produces long-term economic growth. Socialism and middle-way economic interventionism by the state produce poverty and bureaucracy. If your goal is to keep poor people poor, generation after generation, you should promote socialism. But be sure to call it economic democracy in order to fool the voters.
The Bible is an anti-socialist document. Socialist propagandists for over four centuries have claimed that the Bible teaches socialism, but we have yet to see a single Bible commentary written by a socialist. If the Bible teaches socialism, where is the expository evidence?

Really? I believe the head socialist in the Bible was a man named Jesus!
