Popular Christian Radio DJ Arrested on Child Sex Charges

A popular Christian disc jockey has been terminated, following his arrest Friday afternoon at a Christian music festival, on a sexual assault on a minor charge.

John Balyo, 35, of Caledonia, was arrested at the Big Ticket Festival, one of the nation’s largest Christian music events, Battle Creek police confirmed to WZZM-13.

Balyo, a graduate of Cornerstone University, a Christian college located in Grand Rapids, was employed for the past eight years as an on-air personality at contemporary Christian radio station WCSG affiliated with Cornerstone .

According to Battle Creek police Sgt. Jim Marten, Balyo’s name was given to investigators by Ronald Moser of Battle Creek, who was runs website offering paying customers sex with underage boys. Earlier this month, police raided Moser’s home, where they discovered him with a 12-year-old boy and a stash of child pornography.

The charge against Balyo stems from a single incident in May after Balyo approached and paid Moser to arrange for a sexual encounter with a minor.

Both men were swept up as part of an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators — called Operation Predator — conducted by Homeland Security.

Balyo, who is facing first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges, was terminated by his employer Saturday morning.

“Asking her about the reason, I was shocked to hear from her that the tutor used to put her leg on his leg and grope her private parts. She also told me that he holds her hand and puts it on his private parts," the father AK, 37, Pakistani manager, told investigators.

When AK came down, the tutor had already left the house but the father saw the tissue paper under the table.

Police arrived and arrested the tutor who admitted to his crime before investigators and the court.

He confessed that he had done the same thing ten days ago.

The court will give its sentence on June 29.

If you want to get into it, I think anytime you give someone a functional power or privilege, you run the risk of abuse.  The danger of this increases out at the edges, where definitions and roles are less clear.

In the case at issue, the individual obviously surrounded himself with the icons and ritual of his religion, but he undertook very little of the responsibilities.  Power or influence without responsibility...that's where you would expect to find this sort of thing.  Indeed, that seems to turn out to be the case.

Buddhists are clerics?

Absolutely, Buddhists who are really into it can become clerics. Are you suggesting they can't?

What is your point? Many Buddhists are not monks or nuns but they're very devoted to their religion. Why are you being so bigoted about Christians?
