The Mysterious Blue Holes of the Bahamas
The island of Andros in the Bahamas is a mystical place. It is a tropical, sun-kissed land of clear blue seas and pristine, white sand beaches. Possessing immense biological and geographical diversity, with a wide range of habitats across an area approximately the size of the state of Delaware, many of which are unique on Earth, Andros is not only a tropical paradise but also a marvel of the natural world. This idyllic island getaway is also a place steeped in mystery, legend, and myth.
The largest of the Bahamas Islands, Andros is actually an archipelago composed of over 700 hundred small islets and cays, all interconnected by a crisscrossing series of pristine, mangrove filled estuaries and expansive tidal swamplands, which amount to a total land area of around 2,300 square miles.

Re: The Mysterious Blue Holes of the Bahamas
They are indeed fascinating, been there and seen them. It was incredible flying from island to island and seeing the dark blue 'deeps' and then realising some of the surrounding areas were only deep enough to get your feet wet and everything in between.
There's a bridge on Eleuthera, can't remember the name that connects the north and south of the island, if I remember correctly its quite narrow but you can look to one side and see shallow light blue water, the Caribbean sea and on the other the dark blue of the Atlantic and they meet just under the bridge in a very narrow and rocky gap, really nice, well I think so anyway. We had some very interesting take offs and landings on some of those islands and once or twice didn't manage a take off as it got too dark no lights at the airstrip, well nothing at the airstrip except the runway.
