Added a new category -- "Thinking Deeply"
I realized a number of things I'd like to discuss or ask the community about don't really fall into one of our existing categories, so I've created a new one called "Thinking Deeply." It's for presenting issues or asking questions that are more timeless or philosophical in nature. I'll soon have the first topic posted and I'd appreciate any and all thoughts and comments on it. Cheers!

Sorry that i haven't been around for a little while but i've been a bit caught up with http://www.thoughts.com/
When the site is up it's amazing but it does go down a bit.
TBF it's very interactive and that's why i got drawn to it.

Everything is awful.
I'm a carer for Doug yet that comes of the taxpayer he can't even walk for five minutes without being in terrible pain and he's in the support group (they recognise that he has severe problems and is unable to work ever again)
Now i gave up a very good job years ago to look after him and i get £58 a week but now they are expecting me to seek work again when in wouldn't know where to start and i would admit that the constant pressure of his illness did get to me and i have become a bit of an alcoholic but i have kept things running and i don't drink during the day i'm there for him to talk etc and most of what he has to say is how ill he is feeling and how he wants to kill himself due to the terrible pain that he's in.
They have recognised that i'm very worn out so much so that i was diagnosed as not being fit for work a few months ago but now they saying that i am although nothing has changed at all and who is going to provide care for Doug when i'm not here?
My family have been in contact and have said that in two years time part of the inheritance will be released (25K) (it's invested true)...Then there is 100K in the future but that would depend on a house sale in Spain.
TBF i don't know if a can carry on for two years and i would admit that i have stored up 200mg paracetamol tablets and i have enough to kill myself but i'm not prepared to take them yet but day by day i think about taking them.

I'm in discussions to get a move right opposite our local hospital as Doug's advanced HIV and problems mean that he needs to attend more regular hospital appointments and he can't afford to get to the hospital and can't walk there.
I think that they are starting to take notice as i've got my local MP involved in certain things and that scares them a bit!

I think that i'm running on reserved andrenlin for half the time and i just had to chase a neighbours cat out of my kitchen because he was eating my cats food and although he's not being fed properly i could only give him about 20 seconds!

Catman, I'm happy you are back. I would hope that you would give up on the idea of taking a bunch of pills to end your pain and stress. Obviously you mean a lot to Doug. You have been his soulmate without fail all these years. Being a caregiver is a stressful and demanding job. Sometimes it seems like it is a thankless job, but if you love someone you have to do it.
Hopefully this is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will get some more help. Try to come to grips with the stress and the fatigue as much as you can. You are a special person, especially to Doug, and he needs you and depends on you. Hopefully he would do the same for you if the tables were turned. Perhaps talking to a therapist could help.

We have heard back from our social landlord and she does seem to be pulling the stops out to get us a transfer now, we have been having some well documented and ongoing problems with our neighbour upstairs as well over the last couple of years so i have recently gone more down that angle as well and they have suggested that they might be willing to pay for our removal costs and a priority transfer.
You are right that taking a bunch of pills would be very selfish and a complete cop out it's just sometimes i feel like that but then eventually pull myself out of the idea.
