Does The Universe Have a Purpose?
Watch everyone's favorite scientist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, tackle one of the toughest questions humans face: the purpose of the universe.

Re: Does The Universe Have a Purpose?
I find the lack of an overriding purpose for existence, the universe, etc. extremely liberating. It allows flexibility. If you think your purpose is to feed the hungry, you can go do so without breaking some arbitrary rule. If you think your purpose is to play as many different video games as possible before you die, others might find that somewhat shallow but nobody can tell you you're objectively wrong.
Re: Does The Universe Have a Purpose?
Good Vid,
I would say to grow, since thats what it seems to be doing.
And Anyway IF the universe was guided towards some master plan it Obviously isn't us, but what we might make.
maybe a better question to ask is what is the purpose of Humans?
... to Build Skynet
... and Advanced Inteligent Robots
... and create the only life forms besides plants that can sustain themselves with out consuming other lifeforms.
maybe we are only a tool towards the ultimate goal, think about it if the purpose of life is the spread life (everything wants to breed so not illogical)
then robotic life would be far more efficent at it then Us since they can use any sort of Power for Nurishment (probably Suns rays like plants use), can survive far greater variations in environment, can adapt faster and can reproduce faster.
Humans(all animals) need to feed on other life forms limits them, as none could exist on this or any planet by themsleves
Planets and Potentally Robots are 2 things that could....
So when it comes to colonising other planets we either need to send Plants First OR be Robots.

Re: Does The Universe Have a Purpose?
I think as living things, "sustaining life" is a pretty decent purpose for us
We know that life is exceedingly rare and unique, and helping it grow, fostering it, protecting it seems the most rewarding purpose I can imagine.
