Euro elections: It looks as if we Tories may have finished third. Time for a pact with Ukip
First topic message reminder :
A successful business doesn’t blame customers when they walk away. An astute entrepreneur will ask instead what caused the punter to leave, and ask what they need to change to get them back.
Those in the business of political retail ought to do likewise.
For years, we Conservatives have had the greatest share of the market in Euro elections. Until yesterday, we had won every one since 1999. Now it looks as if we may have finished third.
Attacking Ukip – and by extension those who voted for them – makes no sense. We need to see off the new competition in the political market place by responding better to the punter.
Recent attempts to smear Ukip by some of the pundits – many of whom have almost zero understanding of swing voters in marginal seats – have been crass, foolish and counterproductive

Wants a pact with the party their leader described as full of fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists.
Lovely stuff

Thankfully I live in an area where UKIP came 4th!
And I saw the Liberals do just as well as UKIP in local elections when a hated government was in. And look what happened to them.
So far, Labour are up 268 seats and have gained control of 6 extra Councils, Conservatives have lost 187 seats and lost control of 11 Councils, LibDems have lost 267 and control of 2 Councils, UKIP have gained 153 seats and don't have a Council they control. So it's a bit puff and wind, seat gain, no power. The Libs actually got control of councils in their 'breakthrough' and still went down the pan. Oh, and the Greens have gained 16 seats.

Tory and labour would have a coalition if it stopped UKIP getting power and getting out of EU.

Absurd view point, when many Tories want out now already, most want to negotiate to reform the EU and the reality is there is no chance of UKIP obtaining power, how you think that is possible is on the realms of cuckoo land, as seen they cannot even win an overall council

Well we know you are a complete joke, so not sure how you can dumb down to half that factor.
You know little about many things within the Tories by that

If the EU can be reformed then I see no reason to leave, if not., then we need to ask the populace to decide.

Should have already asked the people.
Had plenty of opportunities to.
And there is nothing that can be sufficiently reformed to want to stay.
It is all just a delaying tactic and then there will be another.

Well as the majority do not want to leave, why ask it yet!??
Mainly because people want to see if the EU can be reformed, but the biggest groups around 40% do not want to leave, did you ask them?

Not bullshit, these go by polls, but interesting that you are not interested in the views, the majority of labour and Liberal supporters combined that want to stay in the EU, really contradicts your own view points

Many lab and lib supporters want to leave too.
I know people of all partys who want out.

The poll, the last conducted before voting began, was based on an unusually large sample of more than 6,000 people, and suggested many were unhappy about the nature of Britain's ties with the EU even if they didn't favour leaving the bloc.
The YouGov survey put support for UKIP, which wants Britain to leave the EU, on 27 percent, ahead of all other parties. But paradoxically it said 42 percent of those polled would vote to stay in the EU if given the chance and 37 percent to leave.

So again why are you thus by your own logic not listening to the majority who want to stay?

Oh my, whether it is a poll or not, clearly the point is you never want to listen to those who do want to stay, making your original point abusrd

A poll of 6000 specially selected people?
0.001% of population?
Piss off dodge you bellend!
If lib lab con thought for a moment they could win a referendum, they would have called one many times already.

No I am pointing out the irony of you going on about people being asked when you do not ask what is the majority based upon opinion polls who do not want to leave the EU. It may not be accurate but is the bases for a starting point that a significant number do want to stay within the EU

Was ages ago when you started telling us everybody wants to stay in EU.....
And pulled up a poll of 6,000 selected people, 0.001% of population.

How many do you think they normally poll? And the results turn out to be very accurate because they make sure that it is a representative cross section of the population, 100, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000?
