Government Accepts BigAndy9's Recommendations (Again) & Widens Muslim Investigations
5th May 2014
OFSTED has revealed it has inspected three more Birmingham schools as part of the Trojan Horse probe - taking the total number to 21.
And the education watchdog now plans to publish its findings into all the schools simultaneously at the beginning of June.
The three new inspections followed a visit to Birmingham of Ofsted boss Michael Wilshaw this week. The schools have not been named.
Mr Wilshaw has also ordered inspectors to "undertake... additional evidence gathering" by returning to some of the other 18 schools.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister visited Birmingham on Friday and backed the three ongoing inquiries into allegations of a plot by hard-line Islamists to infiltrate inner city schools.
David Cameron said: “I’m extremely concerned about this. Where we see problems, like with the Trojan Horse issue, it is very important to step in rapidly and get it sorted out.
“We are taking a belt and braces approach, so you’ve got the city council, you’ve got Ofsted and also you’ve got Peter Clarke as a commissioner coming in to help.
“It’s not acceptable to have extremist Islamist rhetoric, jihadists and divisiveness taught in our schools and it needs to be cracked down on very, very quickly which it will be.”
Speaking during a visit to the Birmingham Mail’s Fort Dunlop office, the Prime Minister rejected claims the freedom given to academy schools had opened the door for infiltration.
