CitiBike is apparently driving (heh) some people crazy in NYC

So, CitiBike is a privately owned, for-profit operation in New York City that launched a few days ago. Apparently you pay a subscription to access any available bike parked at numerous docking stations dotting the city, and you return it to the nearest station to your destination.

This is what a member of the Wall Street Journal (owned by Rupert Murdoch) editorial board had to say about this privately owned and operated, not-even-remotely-related-to-a-public program:

Wow, so a private company that doesn't get any tax dollars is suddenly part of a totalitarian government scheme!

And, in the intro to this editorial video, the host remarks that "already one rider has been hit by an SUV." Because that never would have happened without CitiBike. She also takes care to make it out as if the people using CitiBike do so because they want to feel like "they're in London or Paris," which in the American conservative false reality are socialist hell-holes. This is conservative button-pressing usually reserved for Fox News.

We have the same bike availability here in my home town. It gets similar complaints from conservatives who don't know their ass from a bicycle. One letter to the editor blasted them for another useless government program that nobody uses. The truth was the opposite as usual. No government money involved and it's a very popular program. A lot of visitors and residents rent the bikes. The moral to this story is that Republicans detest progress.
