New forum rules...
First topic message reminder :
Hi folks, I want to introduce a new forum policy..I don't want to sound too quick off the mark as I'm just in the admin door, but the new policy will be a 3 strikes policy.
It's something myself and other staff and members feel strongly about , that would be racism and picking on the unemployed, some of the stuff I see is a nonsense ...and when these issues are discussed, some paint all others on benefits as being scrounges.
This along with blaming coloured folk and immigrants for all our country's troubles really annoys me,i don't want such hatred on theses boards.
From tomorrow anyone making any more ridicules claims will be give a strike for every one post made slandering , insulting and making libel against other people who may be coloured , an immigrant or folk on benefits will receive a maximum of 3 strikes and they are out.
Once they get to 3 strikes they shall be subject to sanctions..that being a 24 hour ban.
I know it's a bit early to dish out forum rules, but they are there for a reason,

If they don't involve racism or homophobia then all is fine with God VOD

Re: New forum rules...
Just pointing out the flaw in your wording JD - you should have said posters who insult people just because they're 'of colour' (is that the new pc expression?) - not who insult people who happened to be of colour - that would mean you couldn't insult, say, a mass murderer or child killer who was black... sorry I can't help being pedantic, force of habit.Joy Division wrote:Tesstacious wrote:
Hmmm. Michael Jackson was a freak who was probably also a paedo. Barack Obama's a complete tosser who couldn't organise a kids' birthday party at MacDonalds.
That's two strikes....
While your somewhat a back up singer for BA Tess...you don't quite sing his tune ...so you still have your three strikes

Re: New forum rules...
Ok I think a lot of people are getting their knickers in a twist a bit TOO much over this. No one has yet been banned or even earned; it isn't actually denying anyone the right to express an opinion at all, just checking how they express it. We haven't heard anything from Ben yet, and veya says he'll oppose bans which sort of undermines the whole thing.
No one is asking for a forum where we all agree, nor will anyone be banned for saying the Bible doesn't agree with homosexuality, those assertions are ridiculous.
People can disagree amicably, as I do with BA, Tess and even Eds often enough. That said I still don't think this is a well thought out move, and is open to abuse- I don't want to see ANY current posters banned

I'm sure that won't happen Eilzel, only if a poster persists on misrepresenting facts and twisting them, like as in when BA and one or two others make ridiculous claims that in general people on benefits are scrounges , or that Muslims , blacks and immigrants are so who responsible for all the UK' s woes...that kind of thing.
It would be much better if we can all act like the adults we are not have to alter misleading thread titles...
I agree with you Eilzel...but I'm sure those who debate in this manner will be adult enough not to try to keep manipulating and changing info from links to suit their own agenda before posting them here!

Re: New forum rules...
If BA does that then restrict him from editting thread titles after a mod alters them. I see this as a longwinded of way ultimately banning posters like BA; and much as we may disagree I wouldn't want him gone.

Ah no...me neither Eilzel, I've had a few wee giggles with BA! but yes...anyone trying to alter thread titles which twist the truth in some serious issues will face the wrath of Ben!!
Nobody is going anywhere unless they are seriously either stupid or stubborn!

Look it is a simply process to stop people editing thread titles - and that is all that is needed.
No need to post about three strikes or possible bans or anything like that.

Announcement on behalf of Ben...
From tomorrow there will be no religious thread , nor any discussion of religion whatsoever , we often find it leads to scaremongering, inaccuracies , chaos and lies...
Sadly religion is also used to spew hatred toward non religious people or people of another religion.
This is not my decision, it has only been passed on to me to post.
Thank you.

Re: New forum rules...
I think, once you've implemented your new rules, it would be a good idea to change the title of the forum from Newsfix to Newspeak...
Newspeak is the fictional language in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, written by George Orwell. It is a controlled language created by the totalitarian state as a tool to limit freedom of thought, and concepts that pose a threat to the regime such as freedom, self-expression, individuality, peace, etc. Any form of thought alternative to the party’s construct is classified as "thoughtcrime."

But that's the thing Tess, free speech is a great thing, sadly some abuse it by way of verbal racial hatred, which if one was shouting racist remarks on the night street, they would be carted off to the local nick!
Of course myself , Ben and the other mods want free speech, but some just can't be trusted with this ' free speech' sadly.

Well that's actually quote a good suggestion Sassy, I think the best day for that would be a Sunday...and I'm sure all will agree on that
I suppose allowing bike once a week for some to spew it out is a bit more fair ,yes.
I will have to run it by Ben and the mods of course.
