I think it's so funny how conservatives act so independent of government, yet crave some rough-tough Daddy-type leader to dominate them ... so submissive!
Re: EXCLUSIVE - Transcript of telephone call between Putin and Obama
Exactly, they like being told what to do and live on their knees.

All joking aside (and they are very funny lol)
I know which country I'd rather be living in.
I know whose side I'd want to be on in the event of another World War.
America.
And what is Putin doing more than playing the big playground bully just protecting his ego?- he has actually created a bit of a mess for himself now, however much he was right and whatever the outcome will be...

Very cool to hear you say that, Eilzel. We may have a skinny black nerd for a president, but Americans only give Putin a 19 percent approval rating to our own president's 41 percent. We've often been the bully in the past few decades, and it's tough sitting back, disapproving of what your government does around the world and feeling privileged to be protected by it at the same time, but if there's one thing clear, it's that Obama and the U.S. are way better for freedom and progress than Putin is.
I hope Russia can finally be rid of him some day -- people tend to forget that he's been the de facto ruler of Russia for 15 years, and that's not freedom. I know a number of Russians and former citizens of ex-Soviet bloc nations, like one of my favorite bartenders, the nice Ukrainian lady who works at my local grocery store, and a former co-worker who emigrated here from Estonia, who came to my part of the world in no small part to be far away from Putin's influence.
The right may love Putin now because of his anti-gay stance or his bravado or whatever, but they would do well to remember that this is a guy who has his enemies assassinated. He's not a leader anyone should be proud of or support. (They should also probably remember that they considered him a major threat until he decided to be the poster boy for the anti-gay rights movement.)

All very true that Ben. Yes, the Right seem to love an authoritarian type leader. Don't get me wrong I am a major critic of US foreign policy myself. But somehow I don't imagine those praising Putin would be so keen if we lived in a world where Russia was THE major superpower and had the kind of presence the US has on the world stage.

Hi Eilzel
Some of the right do, I am and always have been for Obama and lets face it the Democrats are center right and I have no time of for Putin. The Russians have little to scare America with except maybe a global economy meltdown and the obvious its Nuclear Arsenal. As now America is producing and sitting on vast quantities of oil and gas, its military is vastly superior and up to date where the Russians is years old. He could push things to far here Putin, I doubt in the sense of a war or it will come to that, but his own downfall within his country, being as there are a substantial amount of opponents to him. Now the EU, they would be in a far different situation, hence why I doubt the EU nations will do little unless America is involved.

Think your info's out of date Ben - latest I heard on the news as that Putin's approval rate was 60%. As for creating a mess for himself - are you serious? Euro countries are clucking around like headless chickens; they want to impose sanctions but know that'll hurt them more than the Russians, as they've let themselves get so dependant on Russia, specially Germany who killed off their nuclear reactors and rely very heavily on Russia for their energy. Putin's laughing at the rest. As for Obama, he's been so dithery over every international crisis that Putin sees him as weak and has taken advantage of that.
Obviously we don't want to live like Russians do and I don't like Putin or what he stands for (to a point), but when it comes to a competition in military strategy between him and Obama, it's like Godzilla -v- Bambi.

Morning Tess
Very true on the EU, do not agree on Obama and Putin, as we are talking about a President that made the call on a brilliant military coup, the assassination of Bin laden. Now I know you do not hold him in high regard, but what has Obama really to fear from Putin as America's has no real fear with resources, they recently started exporting Gas in the last few years, they have stacks of oil and gas reserves. Putin has far more to lose in my opinion, with the wind of change already happening in Ukraine it would not take too much to spark off the same in Russia. All Putin is doing is playing a game of bluff, and this bluff is off the back of not engaging in any armed conflict but claiming to protect Russian interest, which is of course absurd, but he is thinking and hoping Obama will back down, because Putin knows he could not hope to win a war against the US or want to be known as starting a thermal nuclear war. If Obama does send forces there, I think you will see a reversal from Putin and he will back down, because the war would not be thought on the streets of America, but in the heartland of Russia itself, unless it went nuclear of course.
I found this article interesting

Didge, the Democrats are probably as centre ground as a party can get but for more RWers we hear from they are Socialist at best and Muslim Communist at worse haha
^tess, I think Ben meant Putun's reputation among Americans.
As for the mess; we it is. Not because of the wests response which I agree is lame- but for himself in the region. Do we really think Putin wants war with Ukraine or anyone else? I doubt it. So he has a difficult situation now- whatever the west chooses to do, Ukraine wont just let Crimea go- if it does come to armed conflict between the two Russia will inevitably gain Crimea but will destroy ita influence in Ukraine overall, virtually guaranteeing Ukraine moving toward the EU, something Putin will not want. If he pulls out of Crimea he will look weak, so you see the situation he has left himself? If he were to attack Ukraine he would also destabilize the whole region and risk and even greater conflict- do you think Russia wants such a conflict today? By any estimation that is a mess, forget the west.

I know it makes you laugh on the political compass according to some, with delusional claims to Obama being a Muslim, makes you sit back and laugh really of those who believe such things. If you wait long enough smelly with extract an incomplete statement by him from his book as his comical evidence
Hey ho, is funny to watch, excellent points on Putin, you raise the difficulty Putin is in with the people of both nations with what decisions he makes .
