Me too! Have you tried them this way with lemon Cass? You make one, put sugar and lemon on, put it under the grill while you make the next, the topping goes sticky and crunchy, then you put the next one on and do the same till you have a stack. Scrumptious!!!!!!!

Can't stand syrup by itself, much too sweet. Remember going to California, having waffles and bacon and eggs for breakfast and being handed maple syrup. Nearly threw up on the spot, I could see a tiny bit on salty bacon, but EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You eat the eggs and what passes for bacon very quickly then you have a go at the waffle with syrup...simples. If it is proper syrup and not crap it is very good - trust me x

I like good maple syrup to flavour things, but I'm afraid I'll pass on any forum of syrup on anything, and that goes for jam as well. I loathe things that are very sweet. Creamy, now thats a different story! ::D::

Ash Wednesday is something completely different down here, you would never say 'Happy Ash Wednesday'.
Also was the day I was born :::grouch::

I agree, Veya'...
SOME people really have no idea..
I too find their foolish "Happy Ash Wednesday" quips above to be quite witless and unfunny, in the extreme.
"Happy" is a very strange way to refer to a day when 75 people burnt to death in bushfires
......but we're meant to know about 100 year old minstrel shows

Re: Happy Ash Wednesday!
Ash Wednesday is a Catholic holiday, sorry -- didn't know it had a bad connotation in Australia.
Re: Happy Ash Wednesday!
@ben
same with black Friday and black Saturday.
these are national days of mourning, and respect to the brave rural fire service

Re: Happy Ash Wednesday!
Well, I respect that, but unless I'd been inclined to google "Ash Wednesday" before posting what I thought of as a lighthearted reference to a Mardi Gras-related holiday, there's no way I would have known that, and I think everybody here knows I'm not going to just up and decide to mock people who died in fires ...

I agree, no one here meant any disrespect...doesn't matter what day you chose for something to mourn/celebrate/give thanks/rememberance, somewhere else in the world it will have different meanings for different people.
So thank you for sharing, but please respect the fact that it means something else here, and as it happens i am currently in mourning myself and trying to deal with the after effects that entails, and people here were kind enough to go with the flow in having a laugh to brighten up my day. There was no offence intended in any way whatsoever.
