UK "share checklist" -- what do you think?
Heard an ad on Spotify for this government website aiming to help people separate fact from fiction online, sharechecklist.gov.uk. Here's the checklist:
Source
Make sure information comes from a trusted source. Have you heard of the source before? Do you recognise the url, or website name? Is the source verified? Checking these things can help you determine if a source is reliable.
Headline
Always read beyond the headline. Headlines don’t always tell the full story. Always check the date and read to the end before you share articles with family and friends.
Analyse
Check the facts. If something sounds unbelievable, it very well might be. You can use fact-checking services which are correcting false information about important issues every day. Or check the fact with an official source such as GOV.UK or Full Fact .
Retouched
Does the image or video look as though it has been doctored? It might be edited, or show an unrelated place or event. Check to see if the photo matches what an article says. You can also reverse image search to determine the source of the image.
Error
Look out for bad grammar and spelling. Typos and other errors are clues that the information could be false. Official guidance will always have been carefully checked.
Thoughts?

I don't trust 'full fact'.

Sounds like good sense.
All reports, whether online or not, put their own spin on things imo.
Best to follow the OP guidelines, and always use different sources when researching any one topic.

Do reports from people on the ground count? Obviously they will be slightly biased at least.

I'd like to see a short list of your most trusted sources, if you don't mind.

It seems to me that eyewitness accounts are tricky to deal with. If it's a relatively simple situation like someone starting a fight in a pub, eyewitnesses are pretty reliable, but the more chaotic the situation, and the more that the situation puts the eyewitness in personal danger, I think the less you can rely on their accounts.
I mean, I know if I was out and about, and suddenly stuff started blowing up all around me, I'd be looking for shelter, not trying to figure out what was happening.

People tend to form an opinion and follow it regardless of any other information.
And that, goes for both sides of any argument you can think of.
Just use common sense. Turn off the TV and use common sense.
