What’s the best advice you can give in exactly four words?
You can give as many as you like but try to find the perfect one. I’ll start:
Communicate honestly, every time.

Be wary, but relax.
(The first two are better -- my first choice was along the same lines, but I didn't want to just reword/rehash those posts.)

The two statements are a contradiction in terms
To be wary requires a state of distrust and thus unlikely to induce a position of trust for people Ben
How can people relax in a state of conflict
Hence
Trust your own instincts

I was trying to say that you have to find a balance between vigilance and trust, that you can't fall too far into either.

I know you were, but my point was in regards to you as a person Ben that cares
Hence trust your own instincts every time
We trust people we come to know, that is the vigilant aspect to take here
So we all start from a position of distrust, until we come to know people, but why do we do this?
You can only relax when you come to know people better
Hence why it was a contradiction in terms
By being wary only relaxes by you getting to know someone better
Hardly anyone takes people at face value
Is that wrong?
Maybe, but because of crime, it has made people wary and rightly so
Its near impossible to relax when in a state of wariness
Its animal nature
