Very sad. Not a huge royalist myself, but the way Phil supported the Queen for 70 odd years, always alongside her, but never overshadowing her was an incredible achievement.

My heart goes out to her too. Beneath all the pomp and privilege, she is a woman who has lost her husband. The man she fell in love with when she was 15 years old. Her first love and by all accounts her only romantic love.

Though his death cant have been unexpected, it must be a very sad time for her, and of course his children and grandchildren right now.

It's come to light that The Duke of Edinburgh knew he was dying while in hospital and so did the family. He was allowed home to spend what was left of his life with family. And Meghan and Harry were privy to those facts too. Yet they still went ahead with that interview.

I suspected as much...physicians often send dying patients home to be with loved ones in the event.

No reason to alter the schedule of the IV. Two separate matters.

He was privileged to be able to have the care he needed outside of hospital.
A long full life surrounded by home comforts at the end....a good ending as far as death goes.

Meghan and Harry seem too wrapped up in themselves and their self pity, they possibly didn't even consider the bad timing.

Conquest, raping and pillaging, slavery, feudalism, hunting wildlife for sport, treating wives as chattels and sending small boys up chimneys were historically facts of everyday life and hardly questioned.

Perhaps, rather than constantly demanding grovelling national apologies (usually accompanied by demands for com-pen-say-shun) and making meaningless gestures it would be far more productive, not to mention realistic, to celebrate the fact that we have learned from history, moved on...and are greatly improved as human beings.

Beats me. I don't really follow her much except on here..

My daughter is due in mid May and was in Hawaii 2 weeks ago. Unless Meghan has some sort of health issue, she can fly to a funeral in a week or two.

I think he actually had a hand in designing the Land Rover he will have his last journey in too. ...one of his many achievements.

What an incredibly dignified and touching send off the Duke had.
So different to a major Royals usual funeral, partly because of Covid, partly because he planned the service himself, very modest for such an important figure.

To see the Queen sat alone after sharing 73 years with the Duke by her side was very moving.

Yes, that was pointed out by all the announcers. It appears to quell certain royal-watchers' enthusiasm over the possibility of a split within the Royal ranks.

The funeral today was deeply respectful and peaceful, why not concentrate on that instead of the presumed hate others may bring.
