Inside UKIP's spring conference: Racist jokes, boozed-up delegates and champagne boasts on board £1m yacht
Leader Nigel Farage clapped as a comic took swipes at Indians, Muslims and Poles - and a rising political star told Sunday Mirror reporters Essex was "full of Arabs"
Nigel Farage and hundreds of his UKIP supporters roared with laughter – as a comic cracked a string of offensive jokes about foreigners.
The party’s leader clapped as Paul Eastwood took swipes at Indians, Muslims and Poles at a gala dinner marking the climax of its spring conference.
Referring to the Olympics, he told guests: “Poland did well. They took home bronze, silver, gold, lead, copper – anything they could get their hands on.”
To claps and cheers he went on: “Team Somalia – they did well, didn’t they? They had to apologise. Didn’t realise sailing and shooting were two different events.”
Eastwood then asked: “Any Midlands people here? Wonderful! My favourite accent is a Midlands accent.”
He then attempted an impression of an Asian voice. Eastwood chanted an Islamic call to prayer, mocking it as a “traditional Midlands folk song”.
The scenes were witnessed by Sunday Mirror investigators who joined 200 guests at the £35-a-head black-tie feast. The dinner was a chance for delegates, donors and officials to mingle after the day-long conference in Torquay, Devon.
Earlier our reporters were invited to an exclusive boozy bash on a £1million yacht.
We listened as a UKIP backer claimed Essex was “full of Arabs”.

I suppose stuff like that will attract some voters but more likely it will put people off.

Yet there are some who deny that UKIP are not racist, Nigel Farage is not setting a good example although he may think he is...only to his ilk...
The BNP all over again, if they mock foreigners , then how the hell can they ever run this country with so many immigrants here?

And Farage being the great grandson of an immigrant. Isn't his wife foreign as well? German I think. If she is, how the hell does she tolerate that kind of thing.
ANCESTRY experts have revealed the great-grandfather of Ukip leader Nigel Farage was allegedly born to German parents who migrated to London in the 19th century. More UK
Records show the Eurosceptic's great-grandfather Carl Schrod, who was born in 1864, was the child of German immigrant cabinet makers in London.
The census details reveal Nicholas and Bena Schrod came to London from Germany shortly after 1861, and their son was born three years afterwards.
Debra Chatfield, a family historian at findmypast.co.uk, said: "I am sure Mr Farage will be delighted to learn some more about his family history -or maybe not."

Well well, he's the great grandson of German immigrants eh? The hypocrisy doesn't come much bigger.

Good jokes - you're nuts. They are the lowest kind of humour, if that's what it can be called, they're disgusting, pandering to racists.

They don't pander to anybody.
In 50 years the same jokes will be about another group of people - the reason is because the jokes have to have some truth about them.
They are true - they are jokes about what is going on in Britain today, and it doesn't matter who you are or what you think - they can be funny.

Bloody perverts.
Got your measure now though Sassy you support those swinging the lead and those with decidedly dodgy paedo views. I know which side I don't want to be on. Remind me again about this moral high ground. I think you will find it's a flood plain.

So here's a non-racist joke.
A fellow came in for a drink and the robot asked him, 'What's your IQ?' The man replied, '150.' So the robot proceeded to make conversation about Quantum physics, string theory, atomic chemistry, and so on. The man listened intently and thought, 'This is really cool.' The man decided to test the robot. He walked out the bar, turned around, and came back in for another drink.
Again, the robot asked him, 'What's your IQ?' The man responded, '100.' So the robot started talking about football, day trading, and so on. The man thought to himself, 'Wow, this is amazing.' The man went out and came back in a third time.
As before, the robot asked him,'What's your IQ?' The man replied, '50.' The robot then said, 'So, you gonna vote Labour again?

Right-wingers are less intelligent than left wingers, says study
Children with low intelligence grow up to be prejudiced
Right-wing views make the less intelligent feel 'safe'
Analysis of more than 15,000 people
Right-wingers tend to be less intelligent than left-wingers, and people with low childhood intelligence tend to grow up to have racist and anti-gay views, says a controversial new study.
Conservative politics work almost as a 'gateway' into prejudice against others, say the Canadian academics.
The paper analysed large UK studies which compared childhood intelligence with political views in adulthood across more than 15,000 people.
The authors claim that people with low intelligence gravitate towards right-wing views because they make them feel safe.
Crucially, people's educational level is not what determines whether they are racist or not - it's innate intelligence, according to the academics.
Social status also appears to play no part.
The study, published in Psychological Science, claims that right-wing ideology forms a 'pathway' for people with low reasoning ability to become prejudiced against groups such as other races and gay people.
'Cognitive abilities are critical in forming impressions of other people and in being open minded,' say the researchers.
'Individuals with lower cognitive abilities may gravitate towards more socially conservative right-wing ideologies that maintain the status quo.
'It provides a sense of order.'
The study, by academics at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, used information from two UK studies from 1958 and 1970 , where several thousand children were assessed for intelligence at age 10 and 11, and then asked political questions aged 33.
The 1958 National Child Development involved 4,267 men and 4,537 women born in 1958.
The British Cohort Study involved 3,412 men and 3,658 women born in 1970.
It's the first time the data from these studies has been used in this way.
In adulthood, the children were asked whether they agreed with statements such as, 'I wouldn't mind working with people from other races,' and 'I wouldn't mind if a family of a different race moved next door.'
They were also asked whether they agreed with statements about typically right-wing and socially conservative politics such as, 'Give law breakers stiffer sentences,' and 'Schools should teach children to obey authority.'
The researchers also compared their results against a 1986 American study which included tests of cognitive ability and questions assessing prejudice against homosexuals.
The authors claim that there is a strong correlation between low intelligence both as a child and an adult, and right-wing politics.
The authors also claim that conservative politics is part of a complex relationship that leads people to become prejudices.
'Conservative ideology represents a critical pathway through which childhood intelligence predicts racism in adulthood,' says the paper.
'In psychological terms, the relation between intelligence and prejudice may stem from the propensity of individuals with lower cognitive ability to endorse more right wing conservative ideologies because such ideologies offer a psychological sense of stability and order.'
'Clearly, however, all socially conservative people are not prejudiced, and all prejudiced persons are not conservative.'

@ Sassy
Maybe the LWers did well on basic IQ tests, but those are only maths based, and don't take into account life the universe and everything else. My ex is a good example; Uni lecturer in physics, mega IQ, number cruncher extraordinaire. One day he came home and I'd redecorated the living room and said "what do you think?" - he hadn't even noticed it. Ask him (or some of the posters on here who brag of their IQ) to do a quiz and they'd come bottom, or chicken out of doing it. Make a joke and it meets with a blank glaze - no humour, no imagination.

Well I guess that settles it then but a part of me wonders about Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and most of the Dons at Oxford.

It's stupid to assume that "right wing" people are racist or homophobic, and that "left wing" people aren't.

So the basis of UKIP being racist is that they had a comedian that told jokes about different races.
Still at least we know that with their solid history of taking on ex BNP members and funding them into power we know that Labour is still mercifully free of racist taints.

The ranks of the BNP were swollen with disaffected working class Labour voters.
Source Kate Hoey Labour MP and Labour polling.
Surely my point is fair only someone of very limited intelligence would vote for a party that lied to them and ruined the economy.

Doesn't really help them and it's more likely to put people off. Although having said that I can see the attraction for some people/
