Worcestershire child rapist has sentence increased - but still avoids jail
A WORCESTERSHIRE man who was found guilty of raping a five year old child has had his sentence increased after he avoided jail.
Callum Haycock, 21, from Kidderminster was sentenced to a three community order on October 1 2020 and ordered to pay the victim £2,500 in compensation.
However the sentence was met with outrage from Worcestershire parents and the victim's mother. Who said her daughter has 'had no justice.'
Following a referral to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General, on 11 December the sentence was found to be unduly lenient and has been increased to a three year Community Order with a 12 month electronically monitored curfew, between the hours of 7pm to 7am.
Speaking after the hearing this morning, the Solicitor General said: “Haycock’s sickening actions have had a significant impact on the victim and her family, and it is right that the Court of Appeal has increased his sentence today.
"My thoughts remain with the victim and her family for their ordeal.”

Outrageous does not even cover how sickening this is

A 'community order' is not a right and proper form of sentencing for this!
What is wrong with the judiciary here in this case?

The judge who passed sentence in the first place, and now the board of appeal, who ever sat on that, should be sacked.
I don't think it would do any harm to look into their history either, because anyone who thinks the rape of a five year old child does not warrant the perpetrator being locked up for a very long rime...possibly has a very dodgy moral compass themselves.
