Whale Protects Diver From Nearby Shark
The clip begins at the end, when team mates inform her of the huge shark in the water. Then it flashes back to how the whale protected her and delivered her back to the boat.
In another clip you can see his great big eye, seemingly urging her to stop swimming away and let him deliver her to safety.

I believe that has happened with dolphins too, where they have seen danger for someone and they have helped them to safety.
One of the best moments of my life was swimming with wild dolphins in Israel, the feeling of swimming in open water and suddenly two dolphins joined me, one either side, and just stayed there for a minute or two before swimming and leaping away....it was magical.
Believe it or not we saw dolphins quite a few times when we were kayaking too....in Wales.

I remember, some time ago, when a pod of dolphins circled a couple of swimmers and saved them from a nearby shark. Don't recall where.
Orcas, sometimes called 'killer whales', which are the largest species of dolphin (not whales), will do that too. But then orcas will turn around and eat the shark...shark liver is a delicacy for an orca. Mexican orcas (Guadalupe Island pod) will hunt the white shark for that very reason.

I've done it on Maui, but F&G won't let you get up close. Hauser is a marine biologist...that's why she was in the water. The whale approached her.

I can understand that. There are places we go to in the Canaries where dolphins and smaller whales inhabit, but it's against the law to approach them.
There are designated boat trips that take you out to where they are most often seen, but swimming isn't allowed .

I guess it's like the Prime Directive on Star Trek: you're not allowed to interfere.
