Hmmmmm

I might do that for dinner. There's an excellent place about 2 miles from where I live.

I managed to get most of the items I needed to make it. Probably wait till next week to try and get the last few. Think I’ll attempt to make soy eggs to go in it.

Les often goes away. But it is timely to ask, given this pandemic and the fact that he lives in Asia.

I'm alive!

Hope no one was worried Wink

Sometimes it's nice to take a break, especially these days.

I have indeed been enjoying amazing ramen, editing my latest story, as well as playing far too many video games to pass these socially distanced days. Oh, and working. Still got that going on lol

Thanks for the kind words Jules and Maddog I love you

Fair point Quill, though Thailand (and other regional nations) have done a pretty remarkable job with it. They were all over the hand gel, face masks etc from day one. I wouldn't usually praise collectivist mentality over individualism (a shocking statement from someone Lefter than Left, I'm sure) but East Asian culture is far more suited to huge pandemics like this than our western culture.

Anyway, I have missed discussing things with everyone here, so I'll try to pop in more often, though it has been a welcome break Smile

Hi Les. W/b and great to know you are OK. There was legitimate concern over here.

Les wrote:I wouldn't usually praise collectivist mentality over individualism (a shocking statement from someone Lefter than Left, I'm sure) but East Asian culture is far more suited to huge pandemics like this than our western culture.

If I might take exception to your allegiances, the proof is in the pudding. We are social creatures; individualism is the fish-out-of-water, and the cause of all our breakdowns.

You have Tories, and we have Republicans, and look at the mounting crimes and moral depravity from both of them. Individualism leads to valuing property/profit over humanism and human lives. Socialists may have gone astray, but they were spot-on about the present system.

I think the East Culture is far more obedient to authority. Which can be be a blessing or a curse depending on what that authority is demanding.

The west, especially Americans, are like herding cats. Especially us, because we are so diverse.

Appreciate it Quill Smile

I totally agree on individualism in the extreme, I think both mentalities are damaging in isolation.

I'm collectivist in regards to welfare and health systems, looking out for one another, education and big picture things.

But in terms of interests, freedom of expression and day to day living I prefer individualism. You'll find less diversity of these things in Asia. Everyone tends to do and like and believe the same things with only a relative few really breaking the mould. In the west diversity of interests/opinions/lifestyles is much greater.

Maddog, I think you are partly right in obedience, but that is not the main reason people acted here in Thailand, people were protecting themselves weeks before the government started mandating things. It was just another trend taken up by the collective population.
