"Catastrophically high" coronavirus deaths in Sweden as population nowhere near herd immunity
“Other countries with high death rates are starting to get a curve that slopes downhill. This is as a result of the strict anti-infection measures implemented in almost all countries,” the experts said in an opinion article published in Aftonbladet on Thursday.
They went on to add that while Sweden has a stable position in terms of deaths and new cases, the overall trend is bad compared to other countries which have reduced cases and deaths.
“But that does not reflect that our situation from a global perspective must be considered disastrous. If the Public Health Authority does not address this fact, it is high time that the decision-makers in our country, government, and parliament do so,” they said.
Results of the Swedish National Health Authority’s tests for coronavirus antibodies was also announced on Wednesday and showed that in Stockholm, the city hardest hit by the outbreak, just 7.3 per cent of candidates tested positive for antibodies with other areas of Sweden testing as low as 3.7 per cent.

Sweden believes in the concept of 'herd immunity'. I believe that was the plan the dinosaurs followed, too.

Sweden is still behind Belgium, Italy, UK and France in deaths per capita.
It's rate isn't unusual for a European country. Guess that means catastrophic now.

That's a month old. I used numbers were from today (I looked).
I don't dispute that some countries in Europe did better, while others have done worse. Including the one you're living in.
That's why I dont agree with calling it catastrophic.
Its hyperbole.

From five days ago: Sweden led the world in coronavirus deaths per day per million residents between May 13-20. Sweden had 6.08 deaths per day per million residents, far worse than what was seen in the UK, U.S. and Belgium.

They ended up in the top spot for deaths for a week.
Only 7 percent of their most populous city has the herd immunity they were trying to achieve.
How would you call it? (I can dredge up some economic figures if that helps you decide.)

You don't understand economics good enough to drag them up.

Nah. No need for the drama with you.
