Fears of a new coronavirus mutation as China puts more than 100 million on lockdown again
Chinese doctors are seeing the coronavirus manifest differently among patients in its new cluster of cases in the northeast region compared to the original outbreak in Wuhan, suggesting that the pathogen may be changing in unknown ways and complicating efforts to stamp it out.
Patients found in the northern provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang appear to carry the virus for a longer period of time and take longer to test negative, Qiu Haibo, one of China’s top critical care doctors, told state television on Tuesday.

The new strain, if it is that, seems to take longer to become symptomatic and takes patients longer to recover from.

And our government want us to send the children back to school? For what? Five weeks of a term?
Are the UK not watching the rest of the world?

Bars opened in Texas today (albeit with extreme restrictions)
Much of the rest of the world is moving on.

I wouldn't use China as a metric to measure anything.
They lie.
A lot.
Therefore much of our information about them is really speculation.
School is back in much of Europe. Although at this point, I would just blow it off and start fresh next fall.

"Moving on" right now must be seen as a radical experiment that puts everyone's life at risk.
It's like driving through a thick fog, and you decide to accelerate on the blind faith that you must be nearly out of it by now.

China lies. Okay. Perhaps they do.
So what do they gain from this lie?

Okay so why lie about a second outbreak and mutations? Tell me their motivation for lying.

Apparently, according to Maddog, they're lying about having to put 100 million people on lockdown in order to make themselves look like they're in complete control of the situation?
Nah, doesn't make any sense to me either.

They may never have taken them off of lockdown. They could have a death toll 100 times higher than they are reporting.
There are much better countries to use for information on this virus. Many right across the channel and far more open.

Redneck has to cover his ass on the notion that China is responsible. But, Trump did the same thing as China. For 70-days he was in denial about the virus.
Trump's argument is to deflect to China, in the hope that he can make China a bad guy, and claim his own blamelessness. It's a smokescreen...if China did it wrong, Trump did it wrong.
Redneck is just trying to heap more bullshite on China in the hope that it will help persuade the blind, dumb and deaf that someone, everyone, anyone, is guilty but Trump.

Except France and other European countries aren't reporting a seemingly new strain of the virus -- only China (so far).
Whether they always had those people on lockdown doesn't really matter, does it? They've admitted to a current ongoing lockdown, which doesn't make them look like they have the situation under control.

If you don't want to examine it too deeply, then sure.

I don't mind. It's sometimes a term of endearment and it makes him feel special.
Now if he calls me an Eastern European.........

Have no one heard of "Face", with the Chinese ? To lose "Face" with them is almost worse than Death. If you don't know what it means, Google it !

Not "a redneck", but simply Redneck. Somehow it's easier to spell Redneck, and it has the quickie tag, Red. Besides, this is Memorial Day in America, and many a proud scottish covenanters is being honored today.

Why blame the Chinese? Are you some sort of crybaby? Grow up. They are not our government. They don't owe us anything.
Perhaps in a year or two we can have a reckoning...big fookin' deal. They will buy more corn or wheat; we will start licensing intellectual property over there. Minor adjustments will be made...it's no big deal.
Trump is another story. He owed us something. He failed miserably.
