Cass...please stay in trouch...
Republican Governor Ducey of Arizona, toadying up to Trump, is ill-advisedly opening up Arizona to business and activities today, despite rising numbers of covid-19 cases, and deaths.
I know you are in a rural area, but please stay in touch. We're thinking of you.

Deaths there peaked a few weeks ago.
You would think a guy with a doctor, daughter there would be better informed.
Guess she never called him back.
The sentiment of the post is nice, the blatant outright lies by the person who started it aren't.

Not so. The curved flattened somewhat, because the isolation was working, but the influx of people into open areas will soon return the upward climb. Arizona is one of the counter-indicated states.
12News wrote:PHOENIX — New state data gives a lot more information about testing and who’s most at risk from the disease in Arizona.
The data shows the number of cases rising, but not at the same rate seen elsewhere in Italy or China.
A ZIP code map shows urban areas and ZIP codes near Native American reservations as the areas hardest hit by the outbreak in Arizona.
“This social distancing is working; you can see it in the data,” Humble said.
There are still limitations to the data.
We know a lot of people were unable to get tested and the state says that race and ethnicity for most cases is “unknown.”
All the wrong conditions. And a state that has retirement and old folks homes everywhere. Red, you just want to trade lives for profit. What'd you say you do for a living?

You should be aware that 1/3 of all covid-19 deaths in the US have occurred at retirement and nursing homes. Apparently, those facilities have been virtual petri dishes for the virus.
Arizona is known for its retirement communities. You're into killing old folks...are your parents still living?

Re: Cass...please stay in trouch...
Thank you all. It’s been a shitty few weeks. We had to say goodbye to our precious boy Harley on Tuesday. He had gone downhill slowly this last month then on Friday it got bad. I basically cried non stop from then till Thursday.
Harley was abandoned on a military post almost 9 years ago where I was working at the time. The animal control guy said he was about 2 or 3. He sent me his picture. I told my husband and he said we will go see him. I sent him the picture and he said never mind just bring him home. Which I did. One of the best decisions ever! I only hope we gave as much love to him as he gave to us.
Then with the worry over Ducey caving. Allegedly we are going to start a limited curbside library service next week if we get the supplies in. My boss isn’t happy, but she’s now fighting for our jobs, to keep us viable and to protect our department. I get it. But there’s nothing we can do and I’m just sick about it. We did go out on Saturday to a local DIY place to pick up new patio furniture cushions as a Mother’s Day treat and patio cleaner (as harley’s illness had made him incontenant). Horrified. We wore masks and kept 6 feet away but it was packed and half of the people didn’t care. Because I had done me research I knew what aisle they were on so we were in and out in 10 minutes. First time i’d been out around people in 7 weeks apart from getting grocery pickup or gas or going to the library (safe as I have been on my own, no staff no volunteers). It’s going to explode after Friday. We are 51st in testing. Every single state and DC has been better.
Anyhoos to cut a long, boring story short, I just haven’t felt forumy.
Thank you all for caring. Vic, I love my pen. I’m terribly excited and thank you for such a beautiful object. Gels I’m so sorry about your dad and the ongoing trauma. Sending you hugs. Eds, you and Ben are doing the right thing in protecting yer girlie.Didge, would you believe it but I gave up on reading new stuff as it’s too exhausting and I’m back to my beloved British crime writers that I’ve read over and over agin. And really no cooking either. And everyone else? Miss you all bunches. I’ll be back at some point. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. That’s is what is the most important thing right now.
Here’s my boy. His dad will tell you he’s a Seahawks fan but that’s a lie lol

Re: Cass...please stay in trouch...
Sorry about Harley. Sucks to lose them, but he is pain free. My oldest just rescued a new one a few months after putting hers down.
Lets say Corona deaths explode and you have triple the deaths, which is extremely unlikely. That would put you at 20 deaths per day in a state of 7 million.
Your anxiety about this is doing more damage than the actual disease.

I add my condolences to the loss of your beautiful family member...it hurts.
He had a good life though, and that's the best anyone, animal or human can ever hope for.

Re: Cass...please stay in trouch...
So sorry about the loss of Harley. Given the GB affiliation, you might have named him Aaron, Earl of Berkeley.
I started this thread because Phoenix was one of the three US cities that covid-spiked this week. It is the nation's fifth largest city, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population, and Ducey looks like a traitor to Arizonans everywhere.
Thank god you are in a rural area. Stay safe, you and loved ones. Keep the recipes coming.

Trying my best Quill. Mr. C and I are a bit sniffly but hopefully just allergies or a summer snot fest.
Thank you all for your kind words. There’s a big hole in our hearts and lives but remembering the wonderful years we had with him.
I had a new book group online meeting tonight and kicked back with a Mimosa in a can. I can be real classy sometimes lol xx
