FAREWELL, MY FRIENDS

Sadly, and after much serious thought, the time has come for me to bid you farewell. Not, hopefully, a final goodbye as I shall probably continue to look in occasionally though without taking part in any debates, but now I need to address all my energies elsewhere.

All I need to say is that I have developed certain symptoms which, although entirely unrelated to the corblimey virus, are particularly unhelpful and unwelcome given the current crisis...and they ain't going to be reversed by a glass of single malt and a couple of paracetamol.

Although, for some time, I have been neither a regular attender nor an enthusiastic debater, I have loved this place and thank the magnificent duo Ben and Eddie for creating it.

In particular I am going to miss a couple of posters whom i have come to regard and highly respect as friends and, occasionally, opponents... my fellow vet, both militarily and in terms of anno domini, dear old Nicko and mi learned and erudite friend the Hon. Representative for Free California Quill,

Then there's good old Didge, Thorin (etc)...he must hold a world record for opening a new thread and then always insisting on posting often weird and wonderful theories and inexhaustible and sometimes confusing argument, links and God alone knows what else until everyone else IS exhausted and he can get in the very last full stop. Bless him, he's a treasure.

Enough. You're ALL great and I thank you for you company, past compliments and not infrequent barbed and sometimes insulting comments.

I shall miss you all, Keep up the good work and, above all, stay healthy and safe.

Goodbye Fred, have a long and enjoyable retirement, made less stressul away from forum life.
We haven't always seen eye to eye, especially politically, but I would like to think things never got too personal or hateful..

I'm fuzzy on the details but i still chuckle at your story of when you were quite high up in a mountainous area wanting to take some pics of the landscape and some animal (possibly a chimp) decided to take your expensive cameras and lenses and lob them over the side of the mountain





informative and humorous and genuinely nice man.

i hope you will pop in from time to time but for now just my good wishes
