Obama for president...? - Page 2 Empty Obama for president...?

Post by Original Quill Sat Apr 11, 2020 10:19 pm

First topic message reminder :

Obama for president...? - Page 2 Trum1773

Miss the old days?  Miss when someone with wisdom and talent was in the White House?  Could we use an Obama again?

You know...Obama could always run as vice-president.  If you read the U.S. Constitution literally, a president who served two terms could serve as vice president and become president if the current president stepped down.  In fact, John Quincy Adams ran and won a seat in the House of Representatives...had he become Speaker of the House, he would have been third in line for the presidency.  Theodore Roosevelt ran for a third term in 1912, since he was only vice-president when McKinley died.

The longest time any one person can serve as the president of the United States, technically, would be ONE DAY LESS THAN 10 years. In other words, the vice president could become president the day after the elected president had been in office for two full years. In theory then, January 21st of the second year of the presidency.  But we needn't be so particular.

In these days of precedent-setting by Trump, anything could happen.  WTF...loosen up the guard rails.  Obama could run as vice-president, and simply flip-flop (functionally) with Biden for the job.  Or, Biden could retire after two years.  Or--thinking expansively--why not appoint Obama as Attorney General or Secretary of State, and leave to him the running of the government.  Biden could relax in his dotage, and play golf as Trump does.

Without wishing any ill on Biden, I doubt he will finish his first term.

I think it's because he's not quite as wealthy as he claims to be, and doesn't want people knowing that.

That too.

Here’s one answer. Some people swear by “Quora” but you’ll have to do your own research.

https://www.quora.com/How-did-Obama-get-his-wealth

Either way, probably wasn’t as crooked as Trump or any other predecessor but not as “straight” as it looks.

Speaking fees and two best-selling books. And all those speaking fees came after his presidency, as obviously a president isn't allowed to be paid for speeches while in office. So I don't know where these theories about how he came about his wealth come from, and every time I ask, nobody answers. Which is life on a debate forum, I suppose.

No, I'll know that I haven't heard a more reasonable explanation up to this point.

Didn't I already say books and speaking fees?

Where do people think he made his money?

Maybe I'm making an unfair assumption, but it sounded to me as though IMO was saying that Obama came about that money by doing something unsavory.

I just figured he meant that he used his position as ex president to make a shit load of money. Like I said earlier, those guys are very valuable to a lot of people.

Sure, sure, but this is what IMO said:

remind me what obama was worth before becoming president and after he finished?

Now sorry if I'm misunderstanding a guy who thinks Obama was horrible and was married to a post-op transexual, but I understand that to mean that he thinks Obama used the office of the presidency to enrich himself.

Yeah, you cant really use the office while in office (like many politicians do). You have to use the office after you get out. Of course now, you can use running for the office as a way to make yourself more valuable. Take someone like Beto. He can command a higher salary wherever he goes now because of his contacts. Or he gets to be part of a Biden administration if Joe wins.

Substantiation?  Facts?  Figures?

Here are the real facts: The Obamas’ best financial year came in 2005, when their total combined income was $1.6 million. That included $1.2 million in author fees for Obama’s best-selling books. Michelle Obama’s salary that year [as vice president for community and external affairs at the University of Chicago Hospitals] was $316,962 plus another $45,000 from TreeHouse Foods [for whom she served a member of the board of directors].

Their wealth has grown in the proximate 15-years, in substantial part because of the rocketing economy started during the Obama administration.  Obama, too, has benefited along with the rest of the country.

Just last month, Obama was reported to have been paid nearly $600,000 to speak at the EXMA conference in Bogotá, Colombia. According to the Bogotá Post, EXMA is Colombia’s largest marketing and business event of the year and one of the largest in Latin America. Simply titled, “A conversation with President Barack Obama,” his talk purportedly addressed “influential growth strategies” in marketing and other aspects of the marketing economy.

A key factor in Obama’s newfound and growing wealth are those who profited from his presidency. A number of his public speeches have been given to big Wall Street firms and investors. Obama has given at least nine speeches to Cantor Fitzgerald, a large investment and commercial real estate firm, and other high-end corporations. According to records, each speech has been at least $400,000 a clip.

Not hundreds percent sure about the veracity of this socialist site, but here it is anyway.

Pure nonsense.  That's the problem with sites with a cause...the cause takes precedence over the truth.

It is a good gig being an ex-president, and there is nothing wrong with that.  It would be better if Dr. Obama could regain the lead position in some capacity.

I think the idea of running Dr. Obama as vice-president is a capital idea.  It restores the best leadership team America has ever had, and believe me, this time Democrats must retrieve America from the Republican toilet more than ever.

God almighty, there are fractured foreign relationships, a fully destroyed world economy, and a deadly disease that Republicans just let walk right in.  Those are only the wrongs on the thematic level; how many lives have the Republicans taken, from the southern border, to Jeffery Epstein, to the Trumpvirus?

If Republicans can't block your vote, they'll just kill you!
