Take a gander at these and you will realize that the West isn't causing the problem and having a child yell at their leaders won't solve anything.
Until someone comes up with a plan to get China and India to abandon what's driving the growth in their economies, the earth isn't going to get cleaned up.

Re: 50 most polluted cities in the world.
The west (+Japan and a small few other Asian countries) have led the way in innovation, globally, for hundreds of years. This is true of industry, of technology and of finding energy sources.
What some countries do force, the rest follow.
Even China, with all its colossal man power and seeming endless finances, follows the west. Mao and the CCP spent decades playing catch up, not by coming up with ANYTHING new, but by trying do what the west had done or was doing - and trying to beat them.
My point being - the west can lead by example. Of course while driving economic growth is key we will see less inclination to change. BUT, it is a matter of time before those countries start wanting the same quality of life as we enjoy in the west. Especially the younger generations, many of who study in our countries, who will return home wanting that better quality of air.
Besides, I'm pretty sure Greta's message was intended for ALL world leaders

I agree. The West will lead by example, which is happening as fast it can. It's why an oil rich state like Texas generates 22% of its electricity from wind. It's not because of a politician or child having a tantrum. It makes good sense. Theatrics and drama are of no use. You are not going to get these countries to change any faster than their economies will let them, regardless of the threats or bribes that you throw at them.

Kanpur, in India, is the most-polluted city in the world -- because it's home to a bunch of tanneries, which release chromium into the air. Not CO2.
Re: 50 most polluted cities in the world.
Those cities are ranked based on average air pollution levels, with that list posted in 2018...
During 2019, there were cities on the East Coast of Australia (and probably the West Coast of the US..), who had the dubious honour of occasionally being amongst the top 5 or 10 some days -- purely on the basis of bushfire smoke lingering around until the wind changed and blew it away..

OK, then I guess that's fine. Their pollution isn't a problem.

What is the difference between localized problems and global problems?

Of course, the bigger difference is how many people are affected by global problems as opposed to local problems. But I realize you have to try to make me wrong as a matter of principle.
