Anyone should be allowed to ‘identify’ as black regardless of the colour of their skin or background, according to Left-wing university leaders.

The Universities and Colleges Union has set out its stance in a report on the ongoing row about whether men should be able to self-identify as women and be treated as female regardless of their anatomy.

The UCU’s ‘position statement’ did not just stand by its support for self-identification of gender, but also insisted people can choose their own race, saying: ‘Our rules commit us to ending all forms of discrimination, bigotry and stereotyping. UCU has a long history of enabling members to self-identify whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women.’

Recognising ‘self-defined’ women as fully female is deeply controversial among many feminists and others. Theresa May’s Government considered changing the law to allow people to choose their own gender, but Ministers have put those plans on hold after a backlash from female voters.

Many female academics say they have faced harassment from students and activists for questioning trans-inclusive policies, and several high-profile female speakers including Germaine Greer and Dame Jenni Murray have been ‘no platformed’ from university debates for their refusal to accept that anyone who says they are a woman must be accepted as female.

But the union’s position on race was last night mocked as the latest ‘nonsensical’ demonstration of ‘woke’ thinking imported from US campuses. The self-identification of race has proved highly controversial in the US: in 2015, Rachel Dolezal resigned as an official with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People after her white parents disputed her claim to be black.

As an adopted person, I don't see why I cant claim to a black, Asian caucasian. I mean its possible.

According to UCUs own words, I am now entitled to apply for various specialised social services and allowances available to disabled people so long as I  identify myself as "disabled."

So, in spite of the fact that even at the age of 80 I do all my own housework, general home maintenance and gardening - and it's a bloody big garden of more than two acres - and am able to walk three miles in a fraction over an hour without getting breathless, I hereby formally "identify" as being a disabled person.

I now confidently expect to be issued with a weekly attendance allowance of over £200 on the grounds that I might need someone to do my shopping while I am at Ye Olde Frogge & Nightgown getting well and truly bladdered, and I  also demand my right to a blue disabled parking badge that enables me to park my big brute of a Land Rover in a special par park bay for free and for an unlimited period of time, or even on double yellow lines in the High Street for up to three hours.

Seriously, are the barking mad, brainwashed idiots who dream up this sort of  nonsensical garbage really the people in whose hands the future of this country and its people lies?

Of course anyone should be allowed to identify as black, or any other ethnicity.

And allowed to face society's reaction to their decision.

When some of those more extreme student union activists start banning speakers such as renowned 'left wing' feminist Germaine Greer because they don't like her more rational thinking, then you know that they have truly lost the plot...

its about time these type of idiots were excluded from universities, on the grounds that
a) if the have the time to spend on this nonsense then clearly they are not spending enough time studying
and
b) we want educated people coming out of uni, not highly educated idiots.
