Conditions have been deteriorating to such an extent in recent days, that this week NSW could be facing some of the worst bushfire conditions in living memory...

As I've been posting over the last few weeks, these wildfires have been occurring earlier each season, lasting longer, hitting areas with little or no previous bushfire history, and growing ever more fierce.

I don't agree with everything that young Daisy says on her 'blog  (especially her take on the notion of allowing property owners to burn off and clear land, whenever they like --  maybe she has an uncle or a cousin who owns rural property ?), but she does attempt to cover both sides of ongoing arguments and discussions..

I could point out that nicko has just started "trolling" this thread --  but that would be petty of me, to simply state the bleeding obvious.   That nasty old fool has simply been waiting to attack..

Of course I was referring to that Twitter feed that gelico linked to a couple of days ago (as I made quite clear in my comments..) --  there are several people on there who are simply 'trolling' other peoples' comments, and even laughing at the fires here.  At least one person on there even claiming that it's all mostly fake, with fires being deliberately lit by climate activists --  and in his "opinion" simply a beat up, supposedly to push some "green" climate agenda by some anonymous entity wanting to destroy modern civilisation..

Poor nicko, though, has to make a complete fool of himself here --  could have saved himself yet another pathetic meltdown, if only he had bothered to just look at gelico's link.

When I have never attacked him out of the blue --  but only ever replied to his nastiness by throwing it back at him threefold.


Last weekend,  gelico showed us up there in this thread a Twitter entry where several people were making light of the bushfires, with some obvious trolls on there even attempting to deny the occurence, cause and spread of many of these fires..

When I referred to those fools as trolls and denialists,  instead of nicko going and having a look for himself, he simply launched into yet another of his endless personal attacks on here --  effectively trolling this thread itself, in the process.

And now he doubles down here on his nastiness and boorishness --  instead of apologising for his stupidity, that nasty old cretin simply adds more unwarranted and baseless accusations to his efforts.  (I've been basemented for less, in the past..).

Showing us just what an unthinking and reactionary little girly-man he really is..

Seasonal update :

The official bushfire "season" ends here in New South Wales at the end of March.

The year 2019/'20 is being called the worst on record for NSW, by the authorities actually in charge of these matters..

Over 5.5 million hectares (~ 13 million acres) were burnt in NSW;   well over 8 million nationally (that's around 20 million acres !);  By some estimations the total area affected nationally could even be up as high as around 18 million hectares (?);

25 people died in NSW, inc. 6 firefighters (three from the USA);
Over 30 nationally (as many as 34, according to Wikipedia..);

Countless wildlife deaths (probably over a billion..) --  up to 25% or more of the NSW Koala population could have been killed;

Over 2,000 houses lost in NSW, nearly 3,000 nationaly, plus sundry farm and industrial buildings (est. well over 5,000 --  bringing the total close to 9,000..);

Thousands of head of livestock lost;

The total costs will be in the $billions$.

The worst affected areas in NSW were the far south coast, the mid north coast (around Coffs Harbour, down to near Taree), and some regions up to 100 kms or more (over 60 miles, up to 100+ miles) inland from them..
