Tories must say sorry for 'covering up child sex abuse'
Labour MP Tom Watson claims the party tried to cover up the case of Sir Peter Hayman who was eventually jailed for sending child pornography in the post
Labour has gone on the offensive by calling on the Conservatives to say sorry for covering up child sex abuse.
The charge came after Harriet Harman said she regretted that a civil rights organisation she worked for in the 1970s had links with the notorious Paedophile Information Exchange.
But the Labour Deputy leader refused to apologise and repeated her claim she was the victim of a smear campaign by the Daily Mail newspaper.
Labour MP Tom Watson said there were others who should apologise before Ms Harman.
“The shared shame of all the political parties is that they can do more - much more - to protect kids who face abuse,” he said.
Mr Watson claims the Conservatives tried to cover up the case of diplomat Sir Peter Hayman who was eventually jailed in 1984 for sending child pornography in the post.
He also points to allegations by former Tory MP Edwina Currie that a former aide to Margaret Thatcher, Sir Peter Morrison, who died in 1995, was protected by a “culture of sniggering” in Westminster despite being a “noted pederast”.
Mr Watson said the Lib Dems have “failed to explain how Cyril Smith could beat children and hire rent boys seemingly without anyone’s knowledge”.

The trouble is Irn Bru Labour wnet all out from the front bench against McAlpine.
He was innocent Harman isn't. Moreover she isn't even bothered! People note that. But it's only my humble opinion.

So should the Tories apologise as suggested in the article?
Not a difficult question Fred.

I don't know because they did over McAlpine when you smeared him. You help smear the chief whip as well. I'll await more detail is my answer. If there was an official cover up you bet they should.
Clearly Harriet thought a group that actually promoted Paedos was a good thing that's like saying I support them all.
Its a matter of scale and a matter of attitude. She clearly doesn't give a f--k.
Before Tom Watson a Tory MP Geoffrey Dickens was the fighter against the Paedos Tom is late to the game. He was a fearless fighter and I'm surprised if this was common currency he didn't out it. Dickens feared no one!!!

I think you are getting a wee bit mixed up Fred because I never smeared McAlpine and I never smeared the Chief Whip either
So I'll ask once again - do you think the Tories should apologise over the cover up?

...you know, when another thread with the words...pedophilia and Labour were used in the same thread, that thread attracted quite a lot of posts, but this one severely lacks replies.
