A plurality of Americans believe Trump should be impeached and removed from office
Americans by a 45%-38% plurality now support a vote by the House of Representatives to impeach President Donald Trump, a USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll finds, as allegations continue to swirl around an embattled White House.
By a similar margin, 44%-35%, those surveyed say the Senate, which would then be charged with holding a trial of the president, should convict Trump and remove him from office.
The survey of 1,006 adults, taken Tuesday and Wednesday, underscores the perilous situation the president finds himself in as House committees subpoena documents and prepare to hear testimony into accusations that he pressured the leader of Ukraine to investigate a political rival, then tried to hide the account of their phone conversation.
Trump, who has released a rough transcript of his July 25 call with the president of Ukraine, says the conversation was "perfect" and that there was no wrongdoing. On Tuesday, he lashed out during a White House news conference, referring to the inquiry as a "hoax."

Trump is in slightly more trouble at this point than Nixon was a few months before he wisely resigned. Nixon, for anyone who doesn't know, was found to have ordered a break-in aimed at digging up dirt on Democratic challenger George McGovern.
This is basically the same thing, except that Trump has recently admitted to pressuring Ukraine to dig up dirt on Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden, and said that China should help as well because they want to keep the U.S. as a big trade partner.

Until something happens I’ll treat this story like I treat everything else....hot air and tales.
Let’s see if anything happens.

Hot air and tales? How about Trump himself urging, on national television, foreign governments to investigate his political rival?
Going back to Nixon, he went to great lengths to hide from the American public that he ordered the Watergate break-in. This is a bit like if he'd gone on TV and said, "Yes, I ordered the break-in."
He's left literally nothing for Congress to deliberate. It would be like a murder trial in which the murder had been committed in the court room, with the judge and jury looking on.

It might happen, but a plurality of Americans can't name both of their Senators.

Public ignorance is a longstanding problem, as polls have long found that most of the public has very little understanding of government and public policy. The available data suggests that things have not changed much this time around. For example, recent surveys find bipartisan voter ignorance about numerous basic facts about government policy, evidence that only 36 percent of Americans could pass the relatively simple civics test administered to immigrants who want to become citizens, and that 52% of Americans cannot name even one Supreme Court justice (despite extensive recent public controversy about the Court's decisions, and the political battle over the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh). The public also continues to be ignorant about the distribution of federal spending.

This is why we have a republic, not a democracy and the electoral college.

Whether the public is generally ignorant or not hardly matters when it comes to questions of whether their government's leader is engaged in corruption.
Indeed, a major reason for having a republic over direct democracy is so that average citizens don't have to be political experts. A vote is like choosing a mechanic -- we might not know how they fix cars, we just pick somebody who seems to know how to fix them.

Correct. The corruption is there or not there, regardless of the opinion of a plurality of people.

Just arrest the fat orange idiot on. charge of treason.
Lock him.up. Investigate for EVERY crime he may have committed over the past decade, prosecute him for each crime individually. That should take 5 years.
By then his senility and Lewy Body dementia will see him a drooling cabbage, being spoon fed by a team of carers.
Or do as America has done before, let him have an 'accident.
