It's harder to vote in the U.S. if you're black or poor, study says
When voters feel obstructed or delayed, they may not vote altogether, the researchers discovered. And, as a result, they may skip the next election, too.
“We know from observation that some registered voters leave long voting lines because they have work, family, or other obligations,” says study coauthor Michael Sherraden, a professor in, founder, and director of the Center for Social Development.
“If voting takes several hours instead of 15 or 20 minutes, many registered voters will not manage to vote, and they will be less likely to show up at the next election,” Sherraden adds. “If such patterns are repeated in other polling places around Missouri and the United States, the total number of lost votes could be substantial.”

Of course there's a powerful group of people in America who don't want the poor (which often includes the black community) to vote. They've admitted it on video:
I post all that to ask this -- when a major political party in a country that pretends to be a champion of democracy doesn't want people to vote, what's up with that? What could the reasons be?

It's been a long, long time since America has been the paragon of "democratic freedoms and virtues"...
Just look at how much collective damage to "democratic" principles has been carried out under the Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Trump administrations, in a little over half a century..
Starting with Reagan, various minorities have often been "dienfranchised" simply through Repub' governments successively making it harder and harder for them to actually cast a vote --- gradually dismantling gains that were made during the 1950s, '60s and 70s.
Basically because the Repib's are quite well aware that minorities and poor groups are more likely to vote for their opponents..

All voting is done on the local level. If there are issues voting, that's down to local leaders and election workers. I can assure you that areas with longer lines are not being run by the folks in Southlake, TX.

It's also pretty easy to vote if you're dead in many parts of the US.

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Court documents filed in this week name more people the State of Texas says were connected to a vote harvesting scheme in Tarrant County.
The state indicted four women this month who prosecutors said were requesting mail-in ballots and filling them out for the Democratic Party.
New documents say Leticia Sanchez was receiving money to pay the other women for votes they collected.
The documents also say ballot applications were sent from the office of former Fort Worth City Councilman Sal Espino, but he is not charged in the case.
While calling it an organized ring, the Texas Attorney General’s Office could not say if investigation was ongoing or if additional indictments could be expected.
