Dayton shooting: Nine confirmed killed, shooter also dead

Nine people have been killed and at least 16 injured in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, police have confirmed.

First reports came in at about 01:00 local time (05:00 GMT) of a shooting outside a bar in the Oregon district of the city.

Police confirmed they killed the shooter at the scene. Casualties have been taken to a number of hospitals.

The incident came only hours after a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas which left at least 20 people dead.

"We had officers in the immediate vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly," Dayton Police Department wrote in a tweet. The authorities have appealed for witnesses.

That's the 4th mass shooting in less than a week...

Earlier today, I mentioned that mass shootings in the USA had averaged 3 a week in recent years..

On tonight's news,  it was reported that there have been over 250 over the past 12 months  --  that's an increase of some 67% over the 'medium term' average (i.e. from 3, up to 5 a week now..) since the Dumpster took office.

Trump and his braindead "MAGA" fuckwit brigade certainly do have a lot to to answer for there..

No idea, but one of the victims was his sister.
