Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
Given that leaving the EU means leaving the single market and leaving the customs union, leaving the common agricultural policy and the common fisheries policy, and repealing the European communities act 1972...
Can anyone here who wants a deal, please explain how any deal is different to leaving on WTO rules...?
Because as far as I can see... all there is to have a deal about is what tariffs we are going to have in place between us and the EU after we leave...?

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
Question Tommy, which countries operate EXCLUSIVELY on WTO terms?
List them.
Here is a clue.

Only 1 country. It begins with M.
And up to 17% of it's population are still slaves.

I've done my research...
But it seems you haven't... as you can't answer the question...

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
All there is to have a deal about, is what tariffs are we going to put on trade after we leave...!
The EU withdrawal deal is over 600 pages long... and doesn't even say anything about what tariffs we will have!!!
It is 600 pages of bureaucracy designed to trap the UK into continuing to be controlled by the EU...!!!

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
I gave up reading about BREXIT long ago, too many lies told.
But surely leaving anywhere on good terms is bound to be beneficial to both sides. I voted out, and I still think GB will benefit long term by us not being shackled to the EU, but surely it could have been done with far less confusion and animosity than there has been.

I think a lot of the setbacks have been intentional too.

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
I can easily see a no-deal Brexit with Brits freaking out until the government accepts a trade deal from Trump that totally screws the British people over.

What will be will be. The sky won’t fall down and a change is as good as a rest.

If the economy plays out like an awful lot of economists think it will, Trump will have the UK over a barrel.

Well we shall just see. Most of the scaremongering shite never bloody happens anyway.
But, it sells newspapers.

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
I think this should have been done like the implementation of Obamacare. It was passed way back in 2009, but didn't take effect (for the most part) until 2014. This gave businesses time to get their shit in gear and be ready for the change.
Businesses, especially small ones, can easily be rocked by the waves of changing regulations. Imagine you've been running a small business for a few decades and you're pretty on top of what laws you need to comply with, what stamps need to go where, etc.
Then one day, not only do you not know what rules you need to follow -- but nobody else does, either. That's a recipe for economic chaos.

Re: Leaving the EU - deal or no deal
Businesses, especially small ones, are over burdened already by the weight of eu regulations... although 95% of uk businesses don't fo any trade with the eu at all!!!
