UK’s greatest health threats will come from abroad, England’s top doctor warns

England’s top doctor has warned that the UK will fail to protect its population against a rising tide of global health threats if it does not invest in and adopt an international outlook.

In her final report as England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies said a collaborative approach is needed to tackle global health challenges as “diseases do not recognise borders.”

She warned that Britain and its allies must enhance their health security and invest in systems to tackle disease outbreaks, such as Ebola and ‘disease x’, before they go global.

“A threat in one corner of the world is a threat to anywhere else,” Professor Dame Sally told The Telegraph. “We are only as strong as our weakest link when it comes to health.

What good would it do? People make connections, and come from diverse places.

The US tried a Muslim ban. Only, the 9/11 terrorists came from Germany, a principal stopover. Then there's Spain, France and Italy. Should flights from these countries be banned as well?

As there are no countries on the planet free of communicable diseases.

Stopping all travel into Britain from abroad would do wonders for both international relations and trade; while people still leaving would take away some of those population pressures that Tommy often complains about..

At least putting a stop to "immigrants" would also remove one of gelico's, Tommy's and smelly's main whinging&whining subjects...

one of the biggest threats facing the UK with the increasing temperatures and consequently milder winters is malaria......

remember what was known as the ague in the warm middle ages was endemic around the fens, malaria spelled the death knell for the western roman empire
