Could be a leak from one of the embassy staff , or more sinister, could the computers in the embassy have been hacked by US security services on Trumps instructions to undermine our position?

Re: UK police to investigate leak from British Ambassador's office.
Trump wanted rid of an ambassador for whom there is mutual contempt.
Trump gets his security service to hack into his computer to find dirt.
Dirt found, offered it to pro Trump rw British paper. Hacked emails published, Trump feigns shock and anger and suggests ambassador is withdrawn.
Sounds like a typical Trump chess game and manoevre.

So you think presidents have that much power? Not that I necessarily disagree but it seems that lots of people seem to think he can avoid rape charges and also get people to hack the embassy computers at will.
Sounds like a conspiracy theory. Now, I’m all for alternate truths but why pick and choose?

Sounds more to me like Russia; they meddle in UK affairs just as much as they do in U.S. affairs.

They must have a lot of power then.... How do they get away with it?

Could be anything. Ambassador Kim Derroch is supposed to be terminated anyway. Nigel Farange has made it clear that he wants the spot, and Trump favors it.
I'll bet even money Derroch leaked it himself, as a parting shot.

Farage will be unemployed on November 1st.
Would he want a job sucking up to and fawning over his bestest far right buddy?
You bet.

Russians manipulate elections electronically. They instate the heads of state themselves. Once in, they have kompromat over the head of state. How do you think Trump made it? Once the collusion and successful election takes shape, the incumbent has to holler 'no collusion'.
Once in, then, Putin tells them what their foreign policy is.

There's only so much power one government has over another country's government. Short of beating them in a war, there aren't many things countries can do to force one another to do things.
There are international laws, of course, but they're mostly toothless.
Re: UK police to investigate leak from British Ambassador's office.
Also, it doesn't take much power to hire hackers and attack another country's information networks.
Re: UK police to investigate leak from British Ambassador's office.
There is a BIG story lurking behind this .
It depends how much digging the Cabinet Office and the Met Police are prepared to do.

They manipulate elections electronically? And we all know that and we don’t mind?
Doesn’t that mean that any elections can be manipulated by anyone in power then? Doesn’t that mean the whole government is corrupt?
Now I am not dismissing your claims bye, but by that token don’t you think the government can manipulate just about anything they like? At any time? For any reason?
Why would you then believe anything you read?

So you choose to believe the stories that suit your opinions. That’s what most people do.

Today's judgement against News International for Heather Mills is a case in point.
Smear campaigns and packs of lies.
And I don't exclude the Mirror Group.

Yes. Russia is quite a bit ahead of other countries, probably because their leader is an ex-KGB Colonel. The Russian agency in charge is the Internet Research Agency, headquartered in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Because, in the west we have freedom of speech and a protected press. They are separate from the government. So you can believe the stories you read.
However, it's a good question none-the-less. Why do you think the RW constantly attacks the press as fake news? It's the last bastion to stand up to them.

If they’re all-powerful why don’t they stop the media?

I didn't say they were ALL-powerful. They are all-manipulative.
The people stop them from taking over the media.

Re: UK police to investigate leak from British Ambassador's office.
Sir Kim Darroch described Failing Trump as "inept", insecure and incompetent".
In a cartoon in today's newspaper (the mirror) Trump angrily replied something like: "Wrong. I am ept[sic], I am very secure and my bladder's not leaky."
I bet Lurker will post that one up as soon as it goes online!
