Haha, no, that's Thanksgiving. Fourth of July is about getting drunk, barbecuing and scaring your pets with small explosives

Your choice of characters is a bit skewed, but I suppose crackers and southerners deserve a shout-out too.

For the 4th, it's hamburgers and hot dogs, heaps of potato salad for starters, and then ribs smoked in Brown Sugar & Hickory sauce, or cooked on the barbeque. Tons 'o beer, and momma's Key Lime Pie.

Re: Happy July 4th
It's interesting to look at the American Revolution (what we call it) from an objective standpoint.
The reason -- British citizens living in the American colonies were fed up with being taxed by the Crown but not having the right to vote for representation in Parliament -- was solid.
What followed, however, was properly a secession followed by a civil war, not a "revolution."
And then America, like Texas when it seceded from Mexico, defeated a vastly superior military force against all odds.

Re: Happy July 4th
In defense of Britain, they had just paid the bill for a long, protracted war we call the French-Indian War. It was caused by American/British western expansion, which showed no tendency to stop.
Britain felt entitled--and I'm nor sure I don't agree with them--to require the colonists responsible for such a costly enterprise, be the ones to pay for it. The cry for 'representation' didn't exactly come up until the taxes rose.
American colonists were getting a free ride on the British taxpayer. Here are all these unruly colonists pressing westward, getting into conflicts, and calling for momma Britain to bail them out.
It was a tension point, no doubt. But there were two different perspectives, and two different interpretations.

Re: Happy July 4th
Oh who really cares? It’s just a day like any other day except it gives people a reason to eat more and drink. It’s a day passed down to younger generations who probably don’t give a rat’s arse.
Let’s be honest.
I’m not into “days” that aren’t Christmas...and mostly that’s just for kids.
So. Meh.
