The Democratic Candidates Are in a Bubble on Immigration
There is now a photograph that sums up everything wrong about America’s broken and overwhelmed immigration system. You’ve seen it, and it is hard to let it leave the mind or the conscience. Together with the accounts of horrifying abuse of children in detention — and “abuse” is not hyperbole — we can see the crisis as it is. We can no longer look away.
The starkness of the crisis is a good thing, though. Until now, many have denied that any crisis existed at all. They have, in fact, denied that the highest levels of mass immigration since the Bush years are an issue at all. As Byron York has noted, Speaker Pelosi called the arrival of close to a million asylum seekers “a fake crisis”; Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that hundreds of thousands of men, women, and many children, overwhelming any attempt to process them with the current resources, was “a crisis that does not exist.” This included many Never-Trumpers, like Bill Kristol (“a fake crisis”), and Max Boot (“a faux crisis”). The editors of the Washington Post denied the facts reported by their own Nick Miroff, claiming it was “a make-believe crisis.”
None of these people will admit they were gravely mistaken, or that their denial and delay in acting clearly exacerbated the situation. But now that we’re on the same page, the question is: Where do we go with this now?

Yet more evidence that it is the far-right Repub' snowflakes propaganda arm that really doesn't have a clue...
Instead of throwing away $$billions$$ on Trump's early trials of anti-immigration "walls", the US guvm'nt could have been repairing their immigration and refugee problems..
But instead, they hire more psychopathic bullyboy thugs for their Border Patrols, encourage them to break up families more often, then manage to lose over 2000 children "in the system".
And now Trump claims this will help him get re-elected ???

How are they going to repair it? I don't see why it's America's fault that governments in other countries are making their citizens feel unsafe or in danger.

Obama still holds the record for deportations In a year. Something neither party really wants to talk about.

But legitimate deportations. You might say that Obama was more efficient, but being good at what one does is not the problem.
Trump is the master of illegitimate treatment of immigrants. Turning away asylum seekers. Closing ports-of-entry so that they have to cross the Rio Grande. Redefining the law so that mere crossing is high offense. Then taking away children for the (now redefined) high offense. Keeping no records on children. Keeping children in cages. Failing to provide children with basic human sanitary necessities, like toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, beds and blankets. Allowing children to die in custody.

Do these people know they are illegal immigrants ? If so, they should not be surprised when they are treated as such !

No, they are not. They are seeking asylum. Only, Trump has closed ports-of-entry to then, so they have to cross elsewhere.
Seeking asylum has never been illegal.

Bullshit. The majority enter illegally. People who seek asylum, seek asylum at the border and not try to sneak in
Plus many have passed through other countries, where they could seek asylum. As sooins as they move through they become migrants not asylum seekers. As soon as they illegally enter, they become illegal immigrants. Look I understand why many want to move there and rightly so. That does not make it right or even come close to solviung the problems they face. You tackle the problems at their root cause, but you dont want to do that. You want the US to not interfere in these countries. You instead want the problems of these countries to come to the US itself
Hence self defeating and contrinues a cycle that will continue on and on. More people suffer and die, because you continually offr an apple branch, which now gives more rights to illegal immigrants than US citizens. What you actually do, is tackle the poverty in these countries. Fight for their human rights and ensure they have well being

Trump enjoys it more than Obama did.
But Obama was better.

You missed the point. Trump changed the goal posts. Trump is now better as a result.

I will bump this for people to actually read in full, because there is good ideas from the democrats here.
The reality is the democrats are too thinly spread on political views and unless they unite they will not beat Trump next electioon
This is a really good article and why the democrats have toi stop being hypocritical
I mean even in the debates the Asian candidate Andrew Yang having his microphone shut off?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7193047/It-like-Oh-f-k-Andrew-Yang-says-microphone-parts-Thursdays-debate.html
How on earth are democrats going to win, when they use foul play as was used here against each other?
I am a big fan of Andrew Yang
