Re: Fox News lies.
I've seen no equivalent to Fox "News" anywhere in the world. Fox was founded by a Republican political operative who, with like-minded individuals, wanted to create a news organization with a right-wing slant to counter the (incorrect) view that all other media leaned left.
I think that at least in America, Fox has caused a great deal of societal harm, not in the least giving Americans the idea that all news organizations must have some hidden (or blatant) agenda.

Re: Fox News lies.
Some news outlets possibly do have a “hidden or blatant agenda”. Fox News does.
Can’t be the only one.

The only agenda of an honest news organization is to make money. This can lead to certain types of biases, true, but usually not political biases. Of course, most people these days can't tell the difference between objective reporting and opinion reporting, and think that if a newspaper, for example, publishes political opinions, then all its reporters must share the same opinions.
In any rate, it's not in any organization's best interest to pretend to be objective when it's not, because people can easily tell, as in the case of Fox.
Re: Fox News lies.
If you’re only out to make money and not tell an accurate story, then you have a hidden and blatant agenda, do you not? At best, you’re lazy.
In any case, lots of the newer generations source they’re own news as they’re mightily suspicious of any “big” news outlet. And rightly so.

Re: Fox News lies.
The idea is supposed to be that people want objective news, so you strive to be the most objective, thorough news outlet, and people will turn to you and give their eyeballs to your advertisers.
Of course, today it's a bit more sophisticated -- outlets know that some people want news with a left- or right-wing slant, so they try to capture those niche markets.

Re: Fox News lies.
The Murdochs still largely control Fox TV, and therefore the FoxNews 'service' itself... Wasn't it Lachlan and James who axed that arse O'Riley ???
The Murdoch family, though, has always put their own finacial interests first, and politics second. Rupert Murdoch has been known to support Labor at various times -- most notably with Bob Hawke in Oz in the 1980s and Blair in the UK in the 1990s..
In the USA the Murdochs have been known to play both the Repubs and the Democrats against one another, funding dinners and promotions for both sides.
Rupert is entering his dotage these days, with Lachlan, James and Elizabeth taking ever-increasing roles in the Murdoch family business over the last couple of decades.
Along with with Disney corp's majority stakeholding in the Fox movies and pay TV enterprises following last years mergers, and with Disney wanting to build it's "more family friendly" image across all its brands, I wouldn't be at all be surprised to see Fox TV under the younger Murdochs eventually wipe away the failing and floundering FoxNews network over the next few years..
It will be more and more like the proverbial "albatross around their neck", rather than the high profit/high influence milch cow that it was a few years ago...

There are plenty of biased news organizations.
You're just too biased to accept it.

I think there are many biased news organisations, too. I think the majority of people - especially in the UK - are waking up to this now.

Re: Fox News lies.
Maddog, I rarely believe everything I read. Sometimes it seems, at best, sloppy reporting. The papers tend to just all copy each other and write the same thing or there are gaping holes in their reporting which is either lazy or.....?
In any case, I prefer to use my common sense when reading something.
Of something doesn’t make sense then it’s either a half-truth, a lie, or the reporter doesn’t know.

Re: Fox News lies.
Hahahahahaha, well, you're right, actually, Maddog. I was in the thick of it there and most of the people there are open liberals. I was one of just two people to say in a big meeting about the direction of the paper that we needed at least one strong right-wing editorial voice, because I believe that the contributions of a diverse group of people are stronger than when everybody thinks alike.
I also found it quite unprofessional for reporters to be so blatantly political, even if it was only around one another. Professional journalists leave their bias at the newsroom door.

A couple of days ago, I saw a doco'drama series being advertised that's starting July 1 on the Stan internet-streaming channel, about his role in the rise and expansion of FauxNews.

No doubt he was one of Rupert Murdoch's favourite henchmen at the time..

Yeah, Bud Kennedy should stick to writing about food. I follow his page on Facebook for his food reviews.
His politics, not so much.
I have been following the DMN more lately. They seem to have taken your advice.
What's odd is that Ft Worth is more conservative than Dallas, yet the papers are the opposite.

Amend your title please. Kellyanne Conway says ''lies'' should be called ''alternative facts'' !
