Tens of thousands protest EU law that foes say will foster internet censorship
Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets across Germany last weekend to challenge a new European Union copyright law set to be passed this week.
The protesters, marching under the slogan "Save your Internet," fear the EU Copyright Directive, which aims to modernize copyright rules for the digital era, could lead to online censorship and restrict freedom of speech.
AP, citing local German media, said 40,000 people marched in protest of the law in Munich on Saturday. Other protests in Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Berlin included more than one thousand attendees according to the events' Facebook pages.
European lawmakers are scheduled to vote on the final text of the directive Tuesday.

Sounds like a very pro-corporation/Hollywood studio move to me. Thoughts?

Get out of the EU. Which is what we're trying to do. One day the penny will drop, but it'll be too late. We're already being led by the nose into complete slavery. It's subtle and insidious, in the same cancerous way ivy creeps over brickwork, entrenching itself and smothering and killing every other thing in its path. The Brussels oligarchs must be sneering into their fists at the UK while they plot to build their federal superstate. If we break free, others will follow, and their grip might just be loosened. This obsession with free movement, mass immigration and cultural diversity? All instruments for smashing traditional nationhood and creating a new common European citizenship. If this continues, we will all just be provinces in their empire. Eventually, if we stay in the EU we'll all end up with no leverage, no bargaining power. We'll all do as we're told. And what you've posted above is just the start. This isn't really about copyright. It's about control.
The fundamental driving force behind the EU is to form a single country that can rival the US, Russia and China. That's it in a nutshell. And the attitude of the EU is "if you won't be in our gang, we'll punish you."
Someone once wrote "The EU is essentially carrying on the work of Hitler but with a fluffy coat on."
We're being fooled. So softly and gently most of us can't see it yet.
